"The embroidered book is still lying open on the floor...The stitches of the book's cover are familiar to her fingertips: the hard knots at the centres of the forget-me-nots, the feathered chain stitch of the vine at the edge." page 11
"The book reads like a collection of scattered things, found at random, and perhaps that is precisely what it is."

I had fun reading this book. It is historical fiction about Marie Antoinette and her sister Charlotte. Much of this book is historic; I have a gif quote series for it
in this tag. I have used gifs from
the beautiful 2006 movie starring Kirsten Dunst. The "fiction" part of the historical fiction is really the embrossed journal Charlotte and Antoinette share that contains magic spells.
I really did enjoy reading this book, but it is very long (658 pages in the hardback edition). If I were still using goodreads I would have tagged this book on there as "books about sisters". (I gave up using goodreads a while ago because it just took a lot of maintenance.) I did get a bit bored though, reading the book. I'm just really happy I can finally return it to the library though, lol, because it is 11 days overdue, and I'm sure someone else is really eager to read it. (My city's library system
no longer has overdue fines).
I still have some queued post for this book, but I have now officially finished reading it. I debated about buying a copy of the book just to keep around, but in all honesty, I don't really see myself reading it again. It is very long, and of course, it has a sad ending. The second and third pictures are my embroidered journals I have bought from the Rifle Paper Company.
I had a lovely few weeks reading this book. Hope you enjoy
the tag!
