Have been rereading this book with the audible audiobook. Not really judging the book in a literary/stylstic context. I'm really rereading it for the Starbucks references haha.

Pages 48-49 of paperback edition:

Still sitting on Cath's bed, eating what must be his second Blueberry Bliss bar. He was wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt. Maybe Levi worked at Olive Garden, too.

"Are you a waiter?" she asked.

"Presently?" No."

"Do you work at the Lancome counter?"

He laughed. "What?"

"Maybe I'm really gothy and dark" - he smiled - "but only on certain days." Cath couldn't imagine Levi ever being gothy and dark; he had the smilingest face she'd ever seen. He smiled all the way from his chin to his receding hairline. His forhead wrinkled up, his eyes twinkled. Even his ears got in the action - they twitched, like a dog's.

"Or maybe I work at Starbucks," he said.

She snorted. "Really?"

"Really," he said still smiling. "Someday you'll need health insurance and you won't think working at Starbucks is funny."

Levi flopped down on her bed. He was dressed in black - he must have gotten off work. She frowned at him.

"I still can't believe you work at Starbucks," she said.

"What's wrong with Starbucks?"

"It's a big, faceless corporation."

He raised a good-natured brow. "So far, they've let me keep my face."

Cath went back to her laptop. "I like my job," he said. I see the same people every day. I remember their drinks, they like that I remember their drinks, I make them happy, and then they leave. It's like being a bartender, but you don't have to deal with drunks."

“Are you rooting for me? Are you hoping I pull this off?”

Cath’s eyes settled on his, tentatively, like they’d fly away if he moved.
She nodded her head. The right side of his mouth pulled up.

“I’m rooting for you,” she whispered.

“Why? Because they’re warm?”
