Queen Bey is not immune to woke ideology.

So...I had no idea "spaz" is actually an "ableist slur".

Beyonce used this word in her song lyrics, and now she has to change the lyrics because it is a very offensive word, apparently.

Paris, formerly disneygirl89, used the word in an iconset (reposted here).  This icon set was probably made 10 years ago or more.

I am a legally physically disabled adult.  I did not realize this word was offensive or ableist.

I never actually knew what the word meant, like, the definition, but I assumed it was the same as the word "klutz" or "goof".

The word "spaz" is actually the slang word of "spastic", and it is used as a noun in a perjorative way to describe disabled people.  I guess it's offensive the way "midget" is an offensive word to people who have dwarfism.  The same way "retard" is an offensive and hurtful way to describe people who are developmentally delayed.

I do feel for Queen Bey though, because she didn't mean any harm by using the word.  As a disabled person myself, I do not see the word "spaz" on par with perjorative words such as "midge", or "retard".  It's funny how some words are so pervasive in rap songs, such as "nigga", which is technically a way more offensive word, but it has been accepted in our vernacular by black people in hop hop music who are "reclaiming the name."

Incredible though, that Queen Bey, of all people, didn't get a pass from the woke ideology movement.
