I actually wanted to ask if you wanted to continue watching this series.
Because the first episode was really similar to the book, except the Cuthburts sent Anne back. And also the scary orphanage stuff never happened in the book.
But going forward, a lot more is changed. And it stops being Lucy Maud's Anne, and starts becoming a feminists' envision of Anne.
But it's really that this series breaks my heart. It is so dark, and the kids at school are so cruel to Anne, and Anne isn't innocent, and the girls at the school have no qualms about stabbing her in the back whenever they feel like it.
Every time I watch this series I have to read the book again to wash my brain out.
But anything you'd like to watch :) It seems we've watched everything Cinderella except for Into the Woods on Disney Plus and some of the Netflix Cinderella stuff. There is an animated Netflix movie called "Charming" but it is really goofy and really meant for kids
( ... )
Honestly, I think we should wait a bit for our “Anne with an E” watch-along and save it for when we actually start reading Anne of Green Gables. That way we can compare the differences in the show and then cleanse our minds with the book after each episode. Like for example - we can watch 2 episodes and read 3 chapters a week. What do you think? :)
To be honest I never really enjoyed Into The Woods, so I don’t feel like watching it again lol.
I was thinking that next week we could watch “A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish” (on Netflix) on Saturday and then “Enchanted” (I have it on DVD and I think you said it was on Apple+) on Sunday to nicely wrap up our Cinderella theme. Then the week after that we can finally go back to watching our Disney Princesses/heroines movies. Sound good to you? :)
