tumblrWatched TLK2 today. It was so interesting. To see different generations of lionesses. I'm was really intrigued, especially regarding how the younger lionesses (Vitani, Chiara) learned to hate each other from what their elders told them.
I've also been thinking of the groups that fall under the umbrella of Disney heroines:
1.Disney characters who are royalty by birthright and/or marriage, but not recognized by the Disney Princess Franchise"
-(Elsa and Anna), Nala, Chiara, Kida, Eilonwy, Vanellope von Schweetz, Nancy, Tiger Lilly, Jane Porter
2.Non Disney princesses or heroines now owned by Disney:
-Anastasia, Thumbelina
3.Disney characters not princesses or royalty by birthright and/or marriage, and not recognized by the Disney Princess franchise:
-Tink, Alice, Giselle, Megara, Anastasia Tremaine, Roxanne, Lilo, Nani, Charlotte la Boeuff...so many more.
Ultimately it boils down to which characters make Disney the most money. Mulan technically shouldn't be there, and neither should Moana, and although Elsa and Anna were in the
Disney Princess Comfy Squad in Wreck it Ralph Breaks the Internet, they are not officially part of the franchise. I really do think it's about money and marketing opportunities. I remember reading that Tink and Alice were part of it when it started out, but Tink was put in the Disney fairies franchise, and Alice was on her own.
Anyhow, I do plan to watch The Lion Guard eventually. It's a Disney junior show on Disney Plus. It seems to take place during the timeframe when Kovu and Chiara are cubs.
