Ha! finally making a post! So what have I been up to this year? Actually lots of cool things happened!

December 2012: My sister had a baby! Her name is Ava and she's totally adorable. I can't believe I'm an aunt. I try to spend time with them at least once a week but sometimes it doesn't happen and I haven't babysat her by myself yet.

January 2013: (okay just the fact that it's freaking 2013 is weird)

I got the chance to go to the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting as it was in Seattle this year. While a lot of the panels and such were not pertinent to me since I'm not a librarian, I did get to attend the main Exhibition room where all the publishers had set up their booths to showcase their books and product. It was very fun to meet publishing reps and meet up with some YA blogger friends that I've met through going to author signings in town. Also ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies)!! And okay, I went a bit overboard and took too many and haven't read that many of them, most of the books I got have already come out in stores, but I will read them! someday...Hello, my name is Holly and I'm a book addict.

Feb-May 2013: Not too much happened in this half of the year, at least that I can remember...

I did have a fun time at my friend justlikeyou 's birthday party. It was Doctor Who themed, so lots of blue and we had fish fingers and custard, then went to the Doctor Who themed bar and played Settlers of Catan later. Fun times!

June 2013: LEAKY CON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the annual Harry Potter Fan Convention and it was actually on the west coast for once, in Portland OR. It was totally awesome and they celebrate many fandoms now and have a Young Adult Literature track which I attended. So cool to meet and see all those authors in action! While I did not get to attend as many Harry Potter panels because of the YA Lit stuff, it was all still really fun! Also, it got me into The Lizzie Bennett Diaries which is also super fun!

July 2013: not a great month, came back from Leaky Con and got a cold, as one does when they go to a convention lol, had jury duty, but didn't end up sitting on an actual jury. My grandma also had a fall on a bus and has been in slow recovery ever since, staying with relatives, but now she's going to be trying out a retirement/assisted living home as her house isn't safe for her anymore. It definitely sucks because she's always been pretty self sufficient but she is getting on in years (she's in her 80s) so it's the best for now. Actually she'll be a lot closer to me so I can go visit her more often which will be nice.

Now: Summer went by so fast! But I love Autumn. And it's almost time for Geek Girl Con! Founded in Seattle, this will be it's 3rd year and I hope the best yet (I didn't go the first year though). Then holiday season will be upon us and I'm sure it'll get crazy at work but I hope manageable (This will be my 8th holiday season as a bookseller!)

I hope to make another post that is more about books, tv, movies and entertainment stuff, but who knows when I'll do it :-P but know that I do read my flist every week even if I don't comment.
