Five weeks without an update.
RL is so much a bitch for me right now that I had barely time for this one. But I found this meme on my f-list and I think it's interesting. Mostly because I LOOOOVE CINEMA and finding all these strange facts about 10 of my favorite movies was fun! So much fun that I chose 3 instead of one but they are all very cute and short , I promise.

The Truman Show (1998)

-Every streetname in Seahaven refers to a movie actor, e.g. "Lancaster Square" or "Barrymore Road."

-In an early scene on Truman and Meryl's kitchen table is a bottle of vitamin D - needed for those without exposure to the (real) sun

-When Andrew Niccol was going to direct, Gary Oldman was going to star.

Finding Nemo (2003)

-In the dentist's office, there is a Buzz Lightyear action figure lying on the floor.

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King  (2003)

-Shelob's shriek is actually the sound of a Tasmanian devil

-Most of the lines Legolas says in the Extended Edition scene of the Paths of the Dead are direct quotes from the book.

-Elija Wood was wrapped in a latex-like material that represented Shelob's webbing. On the DVD, he jokes that it is like being encased in the world's largest condom.

Titanic (1998)

-Most of the decor on the ship - from the carpet to the chandeliers - was reconstructed by, or under the supervision of, the original companies which furnished the Titanic

-When Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) is preparing to draw Rose (Kate Winslet), he tells her to "Lie on that bed, uh I mean couch." The line was scripted "Lie on that couch", but DiCaprio made an honest mistake and James Cameron liked it so much he kept it in.

-Jack has a line during the first class dinner scene in which he asks Molly Brown which utensils to use for what. Because of the enormous amount of time spent shooting the scene, having to provide different angles and coverage for all the cast members at the table, Leonardo DiCaprio was so worn out towards the end that he picked up a fork and asked Kathy Bates "Which one of these do I use to lobotomize myself?"

La Vita è Bella (1997)

-Before they go to sleep Guido and Ferruccio have a few jokes about the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. Schopenhauer was a favorite writer of Hitler.

-Roberto Benigni says the title comes from a quote by Leon Trotsky. In exile in Mexico, knowing he was about to be killed by Stalin's assassins, he saw his wife in the garden and wrote that, in spite of everything, "life is beautiful".

-Guido's wife, Dora, is played by Roberto Benigni's real-life wife, Nicoletta Braschi.

Moulin Rouge (2001)

-Originally, the green fairy was going to be a long-haired muscle man with a giant sitar and Ozzy Osbourne was hired to provide the vocals. Eventually it was changed to the current "Tinker Bell" incarnation, played by Kylie Minogue, but Osbourne still gives voice to the fairy's guttural scream when it turns evil.

-Jake Gyllenhaal auditioned several times for the part of Christian, but was ultimately deemed too young to play opposite Nicole Kidman.

-Both Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor wore harnesses for the scenes on the elephant as they were standing 60ft off the ground.

Forrest Gump (1994)

-All of the still photos of Forrest show him with his eyes closed

-When Forrest gets up to talk at the Vietnam rally in Washington, the microphone plug is pulled and you cannot hear him. According to Tom Hanks, he says, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that."

-Almost all of John Lennon’s dialog is from his song "Imagine" ("No possessions", "No religion too", "It's easy if you try...").

Edward Shissorhands (1990)

-The houses used in the film were a real community in Florida, completely unchanged except for their garish exterior paint.

-Johnny Depp said only 169 words in this film

-The first draft of the film was written as a musical.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

-A number of the objects and plants in the main factory really were edible, including the giant lollipops.

-The quote "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker" is from a poem entitled "Reflections on Ice Breaking" by  Odgen Nash

-The picture held up by the Paraguayan newscaster announcing the finder of the last golden ticket is of Nazi henchman Martin Bormann.

Se7en (1995)

-All the building numbers in the opening scene start with 7. The climactic delivery was scheduled for 7:07pm.

-The word "fuck" and its derivatives are said a discernible 74 times throughout the movie, mostly by Brad Pitt.

-Even though he's probably one of the most horrifying and sadistic killers in cinematic history, John Doe isn't seen killing anyone on screen
