Ramen village at Asahikawa - i just punched in the phone number of the place to the car GPS and it led us straight there from Chitose.
A view from Chobetsu dam on our way to Asahidake. You can see the Taisetsuzan mountain range behind...most probably the peak of those mountains is Mt Asahidake.
The Asahidake ropeway - we took it all the way up and were ill equipped for mountain trail hiking. There were thses nasty flies all around and i got bitten like mad...welts still on my leg now :p
Early summer flowers...
This is the "mirror" lake on Asahidake...beautiful reflections...pity the sky was super overcast if it were a clear day - i bet the mirror would literally reflect the sky...
Another lake and geyser sprouts at the back of it...talk about hydrogen sulphide
Summary map of the Asahidake hiking trail. Note that you can actually hike thru Asahidake to Mt Kurodake and take the ropeway that side down to Sounkyo onsen town :p
and lastly dinner that night at the Yumoto Yukomansou onsen. It had a total of 5 different types of bath, varying in mineral content and water temperature. F
abulous fine dining i think its the BEST kaiseki styled dinner i had at onsens...so satisfying. This is just the appetiser....the full menu had like 15 odd items....
