So I'm lying in bed, and the radio comes on at 6 am as it always does, and I'm thinking oh god is it morning already and I so do not feel like going in to work, and the lovely voice of my local NPR announcer says that the IU Bloomington campus is closed until noon.
My eyes flew open. WHAT DID SHE JUST SAY? I waited for her to finish reading through the list of closings and repeat the important ones and ... sure enough.
Of course I whooped WOO HOO out loud, which woke up the cats who were being all nice and snuggly and warm, and jumped out of bed to go look online to see if it was really really true. It's really really true! If campus is closed, I officially do not have to go in to work, so I get to stay home until noon!
This never happens. They closed campus for a day or so in 1994 when we had temperatures well below zero, lots of wind, and about a foot of snow. They closed campus on Dec. 23, 2004 due to a blizzard but most staff members were already taking a vacation day that day (I was trying to get to Colorado for Christmas) so it hardly affected anyone. And now today, half a snow day.
I figured as long as I was awake I'd give Bear his medicine, so in another 15-20 minutes I'll give him his breakfast (he has to take the medicine half an hour before eating) and then I'm going back to bed. I wonder if anyone from work will call me to tell me not to come in ... they may; nobody really has a "notify your staff" contingency plan because this really never happens.
Whee!
weather,
work,
