Well, that wasn't encouraging. I will have an MRI to confirm, but looks like I'm headed for a second back surgery. My leg is weak in ways that would follow, and lost sensation on my foot where it would be expected, and a reflex that isn't as reflex'y as it should be -- so I think he thinks the MRI is just a confirmation of what he already believes. :(
I did ask about their experience with TN since I was there. They haven't done a lot of the surgeries, given the rarity of the condition.. and yes, they exhaust every medicine outlet first, because of the complexity of the surgery -- not only do they go through your skull, but it's at the base of the brain stem -- which I never really understood what that meant, but he said what it means is they have to lift and move your brain out of the way...
Yikes, okay.. I'll wait until I'm desperate.... it may not be much of a brain, but it's the only one I got! Don't necessarily want people messing with it...
Between the two, the TN hurts far worse, but I wouldn't mind being able to move about freely again, or if nothing else being able to sleep in my bed one day again!!! I miss sleeping in a bed. Heck, I just miss being pain free. I know aging can suck, but c'mon, I'm not THAT old.. yet.
