I was thinking back recently to about 50 months ago - September 2001. No, this isn't a 9/11 related post.
I was thinking about when I was about to enter UCI; the weeks leading up to it; what my top priorities were upon coming to school.
This was prompted by someone asking me recently what my party registration status was (as far as registering to vote; I've yet to join a political party in any other sense, nor do I intend to do so). From when I first registered to vote, I've changed five times. When my permanent residence changed, I didn't intend to re-register at all, although I did re-register about a month or two ago in order to vote in yesterday's election. In doing so, I changed parties again (the 4th change to the 5th status). The other 3 changes were all solely for changing party status, as I always voted absentee in the past when I voted, rather than dealing with registering at school and voting on election day.
Anyway, here's the part that most of you will find funny: I remembered that one of the first things I wanted to do upon getting to UCI was to join CalPIRG. Yes, you read that correctly. More on this, and its relevance, as I find time to deal with it.
By the way, order of affiliation, reminding you that these were only on the voter registration. I never paid dues to any of these groups (especially not the 4th) :
Democrat - Green - Libertarian - Decline to State - Republican
I believe that
notalent once said that I am the only person to enter the UC system as a communist and graduate as a capitalist. Hyperbole or not, I plan on writing out how this happened, more for my own recollection than anything else. But anyone interested in reading it will be able to do so.
