Arica and Eric left the restaurant just after Shannon and Kyle, neither one speaking until after they were in the car and had started home.
"Why didn't you ever tell me about your ex-wife?" Arica suddenly asked. "I mean you never mention her and then suddenly out of the blue she shows up..."
Eric looked over at her, reaching out to take her hand. "You have nothing to worry about. I love you Arica."
She pulled her hand away. "Then why didn't you tell me?"
"I don't know," he said.
"I have a few ideas on that."
"Arica, I promise you, you have nothing to be worried about," he said seriously. He was also fighting the urge to laugh, because he'd never seen his wife like this... But he didn't because regardless of whatever humor he saw in the situation, Arica wasn't going to see any.
