Inattention and 9-year-olds do not mix
Working from home again today because Robert's cough is still pretty bad, but he's otherwise energetic and cheerful.
A few minutes ago we had this exchange.
Robert: "Mom, where are my water guns?"
Me, busy working: "Hmmm? In the garage."
Robert: "Linus was a bad kitty and didn't use the scratching post! I'm gonna squirt him!"
Me: "Hmmmm? OK. ................ No, wait, stop!"
(interval wherein I send him outside with the water gun)
Kenneth, just back from school: "Hi Mom!"
Me: "Hi. Is Robert outside?"
Kenneth: "Yeah. He tried to squirt me."
Me: "Sigh."
