I went to Target to pick up a better space heater, cat litter and cat food. Of course, I walked out of there with a whole lot more than what I intended to get. They have all kinds of movies on sale for $6.50!! I picked up a Clerks, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Big Fish, The Terminal and replaced my VHS copy of Fellowship of ( Read more... )

I'm glad that I'm a keeper! Overall, I'm doing good when looking at everything thats going on. It was nice to get back to work, so I have a bit of my normal daily life back. I know it will be a while before random thoughts, memories and items will no longer send my emotions all over the place, but even that is lessening. I was sorting through some of his clothes today because I thought that clothing would not be upsetting. Then I got to his obnoxious print summer shirts (like Hawaiian print shirts) and got very choked up and upset remembering when I had bought him one or when he came home with one all excited. I did manage to bag all but one up, a brightly colored dragon print, and decided for now I needed to hold onto that one.

Thank you for still keeping me in your thoughts, maybe thats why things have been a little easier than I thought it would be. There have been so many people that have come forward expressing their thoughts and love, and offering their support.

Bizarre how their clothes can affect you isnt it? We cleared my moms stuff out really fast. We all thought the longer we waited the harder it would be. I kept (and still have) the out fit she wore to my HS graduation. It was the first, and only, bit of clothing she spent any sort of money on. She looked beautiful in it. And she did it for me.

I know how easy it was to get through the first few weeks. There was so much busy work to do and so many people around that it did take thought. Just action. It was the weeks after that that were hard. Once all the stuff was done and the thinking started. not fun.

Knowing that ppl were there helped a lot. And you have that:)!!

I knew that it would be very hard on me if I completely cleaned out his room, and have been planning on doing a very slow and gradual giving away of his items that I'm not keeping. My sister wanted to come over and help me clean out his room a few days after he passed and I had to explain to her why that wouldn't be a good thing for me. She understood after I explained it, but I think if it was her, she would have gotten rid of everything right away. The things that he and I specifically talked about giving to people haven't been hard to part with, it's all of the other things ( ... )

You have to go at this with a view as to whats best and most comfortable for you. I am glad you are able to do that.

There is no right or wrong in how fast or slow you go.

If you want... a vacation to Cali is ALWAYS a good idea....Hummmm a futon to sleep on and Coffee in the am along with a tour guide...:) That will keep you busy as well....LOL...hows that for a plug huh?

One thing that I remember is being a little relieved at not having to worry over her any more. I was more than a little happy that the situation was over. Although I didnt want it over that way...I did feel guilty about that for a while.

Jenn
