Day Four: Tuesday
My Roommate woke me up at 4AM to help him call a business in Austria that he needs to get in touch with. For several hours we tried to call this place only to get a weird noise that sounded like a busy signal. I knew that a business the size we were calling would have many lines, so I kept trying different ways of dialing the number correctly. I've called internationally before and have never had this many issues. Finally mid-morning I was able to get through and he was able to be transfered to a representative. Partway through the conversation, he was disconnected and when we tried back, no one answered. It was super frustrating.
I visited my mom at work, spending way more time talking with her than I planned on. I felt bad that I took up so much of her time while she was working, but eh, she didn't seem to mind! My mom also gave me all of her "extra" gifts for people. Each year she shops for gifts year round, so by the time Christmas comes, she usually ends up with a few extras for people because she forgot about some things she already had and over bought. I'm lucky enough to have this gifts passed on to me to give as gifts so I get to spend less time in crowded stores. This year she forgot to leave the receipts in the bag, so I have to guess how much they're worth and reimburse her that way. That cut my holiday shopping down to only a handful of gifts. Thanks mom!
I spent way more time than I should have on the internets. I really didn't have much energy or motivation to get anything done after being up so damn early that morning.
Read another two chapters to my roommate.
I got a burst of energy around 10PM and started cleaning the living room. Then I saw the bags of gifts and decided to wrap gifts. I really like wrapping gifts and spending time making them look pretty. I suppose it placates the more anal retentive side of me. I used to do all of my dad and brothers gift wrapping when I lived with my parents. Now I wrap my roommates for him, unless they are for me.
Watched a really bad version of the
Arthurian tales. It seemed like they just re-filmed Braveheart but changed the names and a few of the details. I think the only redeeming quality the film had was the fact that they did a great version of Guinevere. I really don't care much for Keira Knightly, but I did like that Guinevere was not a simpering idiot that was nothing more than a pretty ornament. The really sad thing is I'm pretty sure that I have seen it before and disliked it just as much the first time. I have no idea how it made it onto my Netflix queue.
