Cat Fakes Death Just To Freak Out Owner

Since the weathers been hot, I've been sleeping on the futon in the living room where it's nice and cool. Unfortunately, the AC doesn't reach my bedroom and it's ghastly in there. Because the futon isn't as comfortable as my bed and I'm still adjusting to sleeping in a different room, I've been waking up a lot thorough out the night. Last night every time I woke up, Crunch was right next to me in different spots and I would reach over, pet him a few times and them go back to sleep. The last time I remember doing this, he was near my side closest to the AC, when I reached over to pet him, he felt cold and ummm, stiff. I started petting him and I didn't get any sort of reaction from him, which normally he will shift a bit in his sleep or at least start purring in his sleep. I panicked and thought he was dead (hey, he's old!). I put my hand around his stomach to see if he was breathing and didn't feel anything. I started freaking out more and just as I was going to try picking him up, he moved in his sleep and started purring. This isn't the first time that he's done this to me, either. Gah! One of these times, I'm not going to fall for it and just roll over and go back to sleep. Pfft. Hasn't he ever heard of the boy who cried wolf???

In other news, the company that did my roof, soffits and gutters has been calling me since Monday. I hadn't heard from them in well over a month, closer to two, when they out of the blue sent people out to finish the job and put on the gutters last week. No phone call, nothing. Monday morning they called three times. Tuesday they called once. I don't know about Wednesday, I haven't checked caller ID. Yesterday they called me at work and I called them back later in the day. Yup, I was purposely avoiding them until today. It pissed me off that they couldn't return any of the messages I had left them regarding them finishing the job, but the second they finish and would like payment, my phone is ringing off the hook.

When I talked to them yesterday, I they didn't have on file that had financing for most of the bill with a finance company THEY set me up with. The person I talked to was going to call my sales man and figure out what was going on. I get another call this morning from the salesman, who hadn't gotten a call from the person I spoke with yesterday, telling me that his boss thought that I was avoiding them and was going to put a lien on my house! They didn't receive payment for ONE week after finishing the work they started in May, and were going to put a lien on my fucking house.

Apparently the finance company was supposed to send me a check for the amount I was getting in financing, and I in turn pay the remodeling company. Where's my check? We don't know. My sales rep is working on that. With the amazing service that this company has given me, I think that I'm going to have them strip and re-paint the exterior of my house next summer. Sounds like a good idea, huh?
