The Quizzicality of Names - the answers

So here’s the story again, this time highlighting all the names that were hidden in it. Also I’ve written another Author’s Note afterwards, because I was asked about how and why I came up with the quiz in the first place.

Holyfant was my favorite. It was just staring right at me and it was so natural and right in plain sight! No strain to it at all.

Wow! I thought that was so buried in that sentence that people would find it hard to see!

Ooops, I expressed myself so poorly! I meant that it was almost impossible for me to see, but once I saw it (finally), it looked so natural and effortless on YOUR part! :-)

I enjoyed it immensely - both the quiz and the story!!!

It gave me some sleepless nights! (in a good way, though ...)

There were some names I didn't know at all, but got a creditable 32 out of the 69 which I guess wasn't bad for someone who's not done an awful lot of reading in the fandom - but it was an absolutely amazing and unique idea, and I think you may have to continue this tradition every Christmas now *wink*!!

I did completely miss, though: suffoCATE. LEERily [Kate_Lear *chortle* and I think the most inventive had to be "FLOOR. “DAMN. ITH THIS Torn?” [flawedamythyst]" and "Sherlock nodded. “VERY.” “TEA?” “BURN Some [verityburns]"

Brava! And thanks so much for the inventiveness and ingenuity!

Ooh, sorry to have kept you up!

Every Christmas? *gulps* What have I done?!!

Yes, I giggled when I worked out how to use Flawedamythyst! And originally I was thinking something like "... he said with severity, 'Burns are all over the body'," so it was great when I came up with a much sillier way of getting her name in!

Glad you enjoyed finding your name in there! Thanks for having a name that helped form the story!

I AM SHERLOCK'S FAVOURITE DESSERT. *preens*

I, er, I didn't find names you hadn't use. I, er, I didn't even find 69. I didn't see Atlin or you. And I don't even mention Livia. I won't tell you how many I didn't found because it would be horribly humiliating. I spotted Verity, though, and obviously I found me, which was of course the main thing because I'M SHERLOCK'S FAVOURITE DESSERT. *preens a bit more* Anyway, you did a very complicated and clever thing and I take my hat off to you!

Don't worry about the lack of feedback. Atlin didn't do her Advent calendar this year because, she said, nobody is around during Christmas holidays and few people read fanfic. It has nothing to do with the quality of your story!

Happy New Year to you too and, in advance, a huge thank you for the transcripts. But you know, no one will throw things at you if you don't post each episode before the next one airs. No rush! Make the most of your holiday in the North! :-)

P.S. Did I mention that I'M SHERLOCK'S FAVOURITE DESSERT?

You're everyone's favourite dessert, honey! You're sweet and adorable and everybody loves you when you're around.

Luckily for you, you're too far away for me to lick you.

Er, is that TMI?

I think it's more like a working holiday than a proper one. I'll be going back to work for a rest after nearly three weeks of solid typing!

Wow!! This was very impressive. :-) As you might remember about me, I don't ship Johnlock, but this story was written quite ingeniously. :-) I'm impressed with the working in of all the names while still keeping the story logical and sensical. Awesome job!! :-) And as I've said before, I don't know what you do for a living, but if you're not a professional writer, you bloody well should be... it takes some serious talent to be able to do something like this, and to do it so well. :-)

Thank you so much! I'm really happy that the story still flowed fairly nicely despite the restrictions of sliding all those names in.

I'm a secretary in 'real life'. I'd love to be a transcriber for a living, especially if I could transcribe TV shows!
