CHAPTER 1 - J'Haven Online Shop
***“Yosh! Ten minutes more!” Jin said as he looked at the clock by the counter.
“Leaving early eh Jin-kun?” Uchi asked. Jin nodded to him and smiled.
“Yep, got a date tonight. Can’t be late you know.” Jin added. “After all, it’s been a month since I last saw her.”
Uchi nodded, knowing that Jin was referring to his current girlfriend, Matsumiya Satsuki. He had seen her before when she dropped by the restaurant to see Jin. And from what he knows, thanks to Jin’s unending stories of her during their break time, she works for an international brand of clothing apparel as one of its models.
“So, she’s finally back from her modeling stint abroad eh? I can smell some lovey-dovey after the date. Fuu fuu~” Uchi teased. But then, Jin can’t help but grin when he thinks about what could happen after their date tonight.
“Hora! You’re already thinking of perverted thoughts.” Uchi teased more, earning a slight smack in the head from Jin.
When his shift ended, Jin quickly changed in the locker room and immediately left the restaurant.

Jin glanced at his watch and realized he had some time to spare before the date. After all, the restaurant where Jin is going to meet his girlfriend is a bit near his workplace, so he had nothing to worry about arriving late. He then passed by a flower shop and decided to make a quick stop there to buy Satsuki her favorite red roses. Satisfied with his purchased bouquet, he continued on towards the restaurant.
As he entered the restaurant, Jin scanned the whole place and searched for his girlfriend. He was then surprised to see her seated already in one of the tables not far from where he is. The mischievous side of him surfaced and decided to sneak slowly behind Satsuki to surprise her. However, he was the one who got surprised when he heard her speaking to someone in her hand phone.
“I’ll make this quick and break up with him okay? So, just wait for me there ne?”
Jin stood frozen at his spot and was greatly shocked at what he heard. “Break up? I thought everything’s fine with us?” Jin asked himself. He wanted to pretend that he didn’t hear anything that but he can’t. A part of him doesn’t want to believe what he had just heard but the other part of him wanted to understand what she meant.
“Yo~” Jin finally greeted her, the nervousness of an impending break up still hovering inside him, as he handed her the bouquet.
“Thanks.” Satsuki said, without any emotions evident on her, something that worried Jin more.
“So, how was the shoot?” Jin continued on, trying all his might so she wouldn’t bring up the breaking up moment.
“It was…nice. The photo shoot went well, thanks.” Satsuki answered, making Jin smile. His plan was working. No break up would happen today.
“Well, I can’t wait to see the pictures then. I’ll be waiting for the billboards to be-” Jin continued on but Satsuki immediately cut him off.
“Jin, we need to talk.”
The smile on Jin’s face crumbled and he knew he couldn’t escape the moment right now.

“Bartender! One more beer please!” Jin said as he ordered his nth glass of beer which he then drank in one gulp. It has been almost two hours since he left the restaurant; rather, it’s been two hours since Satsuki broke up with him and left him at the restaurant. She didn’t even bring with her the roses he bought as she left.
Jin’s heart was really crushed when he heard Satsuki asking him to let her go. He tried to ask what the problem was but the only answer he'd receive from her was that she just got bored and suffocated with their relationship.
After she left, Jin then went into the bar he usually frequent to when he’s in heartbroken mode and went on a drinking spree, and apparently, a rambling spree as well.
“She got bored with me, can you believe that!?” Jin rambled on to the bartender, even though it was obvious that the latter had clearly no interest whatsoever to what he says. Just another drunk customer at the bar, the bartender must've thought of him, but then, Jin continued on.
“And, hear me will ya? She s-said that I suffocated her, that I’m waaay too clingy for her. I’m not clingy~ I’m an affectionate person!” Jin blurted out, not minding the looks that he got from the other customers who were at the bar next to him. Not even minding the person smiling next to him, who was actually listening and following all his ramblings.
“She’s my- wait.” Jin said, as he counted the girls who’ve dumped him before, but realized it was no use. “She’s the nth girl friend who dumped me. She- she’s just...Urgh! One more round bartender-san!”
The man next to him dressed in an argyle sweatshirt, something most likely not to be seen at bars, smiled and drank his own beer before finally starting a conversation with Jin.
“Hey.” The man said, making Jin glance at him.
“What?! I’m not rich and I won’t buy your encyclopedias.” Jin glared at the guy, thinking that the latter a salesman wanting to sell encyclopedias to him.
“Oh no, no! That’s not- wait..” The guy smiled at Jin, making the latter feel sick and creepy, before introducing himself. “My name’s Nakamaru Yuichi.”
Jin just looked at him; the latter’s face a bit fuzzy except for his big nose. “Huh? Nakamarad?”
“Na-ka-ma-ru. It’s Nakamaru. Oh, well, enough of the introductions.” He asked another glass of beer from the bartender before continuing on, “Women nowadays are really just unpredictable y’know. Luckily, y’know, our company-”
Jin glared at the guy, making the latter stop with what he was about to say. When Jin knew that he had the other's attention, he focused his ramblings on him that went on and on that seemed like an eternity.
“I just wanted someone who could love me and exist for me. Do you get what I mean?” Jin finally said, before gulping another glass of beer.
Nakamaru finally smiled widely and then moved nearer to Jin. “You’re really lucky to have met me today y’know.” He then pulled out a calling card from his pocket and tried to hand it to Jin.
“Check our website and you might like what our company offers.” He said, shoving the card inside Jin’s front pocket since the latter seemed like he didn’t want to take it. “Check it out A.S.A.P ne? I hope to hear from you soon!” Nakamaru said as he stood up and paid for his drinks and left.
Jin was still so confused from his conversation with Nakamaru when he felt someone tap his shoulders. When he turned around, he found out that it was his friend, Yamapi.
“Pi! You’re here! Wait~ don’t you have work?” Jin asked.
“I was actually on my way home from work, but then, I got a call saying that a certain bakanishi was so drunk that he needed a lift home, so I came to pick him up.” Pi answered as he nodded to the bartender. Apparently, Pi knew the bartender since he worked part-time at that bar before. The latter then was the one who called him up to tell about Jin’s drunken state.
Back when Pi was working there, he had already invited Jin to hang out there, and since then, Jin had frequented that bar, even if Pi’s not working there anymore. Luckily though, Pi had introduced Jin before to the bartended there but then Jin had probably forgotten about that.
“Pi~ why can’t I remember you working as a bartender before huh?” Yamapi motioned to pull him away from the bar but Jin whined. “Cho-cho-chotto ne~, just this one okaaaay?” He said, pointing at the glass of beer in front of him.
But before he could do so, Yamapi got the glass and drunk the beer in one go. “Let’s go now Jin.” Pi said as he pulled Jin out of the bar seat. Instantly, Jin wobbled but luckily, Pi had caught him.
“Man, you’re so drunk.” Pi stated, finally pulling him away from the bar. After paying the drinks, they went out the bar, hailed a taxi and went home.
While on the way, Jin started his ramblings again and directed it to Yamapi this time. During the whole trip from the bar to Jin’s apartment, Yamapi kept listening to his friend wallow away his heartache. In between, he either grins at his drunken friend or pats his back to feel relieved.
* * *
“Yo!” Yamapi said, as soon as Reio, Jin’s younger brother, opened up the door for them. “Your brother’s heavy Reio. A little help here please?”
Reio grinned as he helped Yamapi carry Jin to his room. “Another break up I suppose?” Reio asked Yamapi, and the latter just nodded.
“Seriously, you should tell your brother to stop eating too much.” Pi exclaimed, as he stretched out his arms after laying Jin down on his bed.
“Then don’t bring any food from your part-time job. He’ll definitely slim down then.” Reio said.
“Okay then, I won’t bring any food. You’d cook your own food from now on then huh Reio-kun?” Pi snickered. Ever since Jin and Reio’s parents died in an accident 5 years ago, he had always brought some food from his job to give to the brothers since neither of them knows how to cook well.
“Who said about me cooking? You could still bring me food.” Reio answered back. “Or I could just move out somewhere and live on my own. That’ll be nice.”
“Ha-ha. Very funny Reio-kun~. If Jin heard that, he’d definitely be sad.” Pi said as he walked towards the kitchen and got himself a glass of water to drink. Carrying a drunken man definitely drains one’s energy but can be quite a good exercise too, he said to himself.
“And to start with, you already do spend most of your time out of this apartment. You’re lucky Jin doesn’t feel bad about that, leaving him alone here while you sleep somewhere else.”
“Well, it’s his fault too, you know, for working his ass off too much.”
“Hey, he’s doing it for you. For the both of you. You know that ever since your parents left, he’s been actually the one in charge. You should be proud of him you know.” Pi reminded the younger Akanishi.
Actually, Reio is proud and thankful to have a brother like Jin and he would not ask for any other brother, unless it would be Yamapi.
“Well then, I better go. Still have an early shift tomorrow. Give him some aspirin for the hangover okay?” Pi added, then walked towards the door. “By the way, good luck on soccer camp tomorrow. Wake up early.”
Reio laughed at Yamapi’s endless reminders. “I know, I know. Man, sometimes you’re more annoying than niichan. Now I know why the two of you are friends.”
“Yeah right. I’ll go ahead.” Reio nodded as Yamapi finally left the apartment. A few minutes later, he heard Jin head out towards the bathroom and throw up. He followed him there and stroked his brother’s back to help him. After that, Jin headed back to his room while Reio went to the kitchen to get him a glass of water.
“Thanks. Remind me to thank you again later ‘kay?” Jin murmured before finally resuming his sleep. Reio smiled at his sleeping brother before going to his own room to rest.
* * *
The following morning, the sound from an alarm clock ringing madly woke up Jin from his slumber. He groaned as he looked around and realized that he’s in his room. He tried recalling how he ended up in his room when the last memory he had was back at the bar.
Instantly, his head began to throb, the hangover from last night finally starting to take its toll on him. Reio then immediately appeared by the doorframe after hearing Jin cursing and grumbling.
“Did I wake you up Jin?” Reio asked, earning a groan from the older Akanishi. Jin then tried to seat up from his bed and looked at Reio. Sensing that the groan was due to the hangover, the younger Akanishi then handed Jin some aspirins for his headache.
“Thanks. Why are you up so early? Going to school now?” he asked. Reio then shook his head as he reminded Jin about the three-day soccer camp that he’ll be attending.
“Oh? Is that today? Sorry, I forgot. Good luck then.” Jin said, handing back the glass of water to Reio. The younger then nodded and walked towards the door when Jin stopped him.
“Reio, wait. H-how did I-?” Jin asked. He heard Reio blurt out a sigh before facing him.
“You really forgot? Well, Pi brought you home last night after you got yourself drunk because of-”
“Okay, okay. I got it. Stop already.” Jin growled, still can’t accept that he’s been dumped again.
“Really now? But Pi said, last night you were so talkative about that. He said you kept on rambling to him even when you were in the taxi. The driver even laughed at you do you know that?” Reio teased.
“Argh! Stop it now Reio or else...Tsk. Hey, wait, did you have breakfast already?”
“Yup. Pi brought over some before he went to work. There’s still some left so if you feel hungry just heat it up. So,” Reio grinned at his brother before continuing, “how many ex-girlfriends do you have now?”
Jin threw a pillow towards Reio which the latter luckily dodged. “Wow Jin! You’re getting better at aiming. You should get drunk more.” Reio continued teasing his older brother but then, Jin had had enough of it so he stood up and threatened to wrestle with him so that he would be late for the soccer camp.
“Okay, okay! I give up!” Reio said, but continued on laughing before finally remembering something. “Ah! Before I forget, it’s your turn for the laundry okay?” he reminded Jin.
“Ehh~ I don’t want to. My head is still aching and” Jin clenched his fist near his heart, “and my heart is broken too.” Jin showed his puppy eyes to his brother but it didn’t have any effect whatsoever on the younger.
“Yeah right. Be careful with the laundry now Jin. I don’t want to have another white shirt turning red okay?” Reio grinned and walked towards the door. “Jaa, ittekimasu.”
“Itterashai.” Jin smiled as he answered back. When he was finally alone in the apartment, Jin called up his boss at the music store and called in sick for the day. He could hear his boss grunt on the other line but what the hell. He definitely can’t go to work with this kind of hangover.
After the call, Jin decided to take a few more minutes to sleep and give his hangover a rest. He’ll probably just do the laundry when he wakes up later that afternoon, since he still have a lot of time to spare before his shift as DJ at Koki’s club.
* * *
When Jin woke up that afternoon, he indeed felt much better. He then started doing the laundry and soon after, tried to clean the apartment as well.
As he was cleaning up his room though, he then realized that his laptop was turned on. He walked towards it to shut it down, but then he saw his browser was open. He then checked the website in front of him.
J`HAVEN ONLINE SHOP
Mr. Jin Akanishi,
Thank you for purchasing our lover figure merchandise.
We would love to hear from you soon.
- J`Haven
Jin raised an eyebrow at what he had just read. J`Haven? Lover Figure? Purchased? He can’t remember making such purchase, more so opening the said website. Maybe, Reio used his laptop while he was asleep. But then, it clearly stated his name so it couldn’t be Reio’s fault.
Jin then decided to browse more on the website, but then he just had more questions flood his mind as he read on.
J`HAVEN ONLINE SHOP
The site is opened to customers who are searching for the perfect lover who would exist only for their sake.
A nearly perfect lover is created based from the different characteristics supplied by the customers,
A word of caution: Those who receive our services are asked to maintain strict discretion over our products.
“What the hell is this?! Secrecy?? Is this stuff even legal? What the hell did I get into this time??” Jin mumbled to himself, feeling nervous but curious at the same time.
As he went on to browsing the site some more, the doorbell suddenly rang. Jin left the room and walked towards the door to see who the visitor was. To Jin’s shock, two weird guys greeted him as he opened the door, with a huge box behind them.
“Apartment No. 604 - Akanishi Jin.” one of the guys asked and Jin nodded. “You have a delivery. Sign here please.” The guy handed Jin a paper and absent-mindedly, the latter affixed his signature on it. “Thank you.” They left the package with a confused Jin and then left afterwards.
Jin had no other choice but to bring the said package inside the apartment. After checking the exterior of the package, he then began opening it. After removing the wrapper, he then opened the box. Right there and then, Jin got the shock of his life after seeing a naked young man in it.
“What the-?!” He drew back from the guy before giving another look at him.
For some reason, he could feel his cheeks heat up because of the sight in front of him. “Get a grip Jin! You have that too!” he reminded himself, as he can see the guy’s member underneath the few garments surrounding the area.
Jin then tried poking the guy, looking for some life in him. “Shit! He’s cold!” he said a bit panicked, thinking that the body in front of him is actually a corpse. He immediately searched for his phone to call up the police when it suddenly rang before he could even dial a number.
“Hey! Nakamaru here!” Jin frowned. He couldn’t remember giving his number to anyone named Nakamaru.
“Nakamaru?” Jin asked. “I-I’m sorry but-”
“Ah! I’m from J`Haven. Have you received the package already?”
Jin’s eyes widened when he heard the name of the weird online shop. “E-Excuse me but I think there’s been a mistake here. I didn’t remember purchasing anything from your shop-” He ended and listened on as he sensed that the person from the other line became as confused as he was.
“Oh but you did Akanishi-kun! There’s no mistake there. You see, we have it here in our database y’know. According to our records, you ordered our lover figure merchandise this morning, at 2:23 a.m. to be exact. You even signed up for the-”
“Wait!” Jin shouted, cutting off Nakamaru’s explanation. “About that. The package here…the guy…anou…” Jin stopped for a bit, finally realizing what Nakamaru was referring to.
“What?! You mean this is a figure?? Like a robot?? But… but why does it feel like human?? Or rather a CORPSE?!” Jin said, panic suddenly evident in his voice.
Nakamaru chuckled at the other line. “Of course he’d feel like a human! That’s how he was designed y’know. And don’t worry he’s not a corpse, Akanishi-san. Just check the manual to understand more y’know. See you in three days!” Jin wanted to ask more however, the call had already ended.
With nothing else left to do, Jin searched for the said manual and read the start up instructions for the figure.
ACTIVATE THE FIGURE BY A KISS ON THE LIPS.
A sensor is placed on the figure’s lips that would detect the temperature from the customer’s lips
thus recognizing the customer as its “lover”.
“Kiss?!? Wait?? Did I really sign up for this? I’m not gay!” groaned Jin. But he realized, maybe he’d probably turn into one now. After all, he’s been always unsuccessful with his relationship with women. Perhaps, a change of gender might help him know what’s wrong with him.
He then sighed and messed up his hair after remembering one single detail about the purchase he just made. “Fuck! I forgot to ask how the payment for this would be. I hope this doesn’t cost so much or else-” He left the naked guy at the living room and dashed to his room to check on J`Haven’s website.

“So that’s why he would call again in three days huh?” Jin said to himself, as he walked back to the living room. He knelt down near the guy and gazed upon the latter’s face. If not for the “unawake member” that is visible on the figure’s lower body, he could have mistaken him for a her.
He stared at the unconscious figure beneath him and mused. “A kiss then would start you up huh?” He then touched the figure’s face and much to Jin’s surprise, it felt soft and indeed human-like.
Jin gazed a bit more at him and noticed some moles in his face especially the one near the eyes, which was almost the same as his.
He leaned forward and finally pressed his lips on the other’s lips. Jin’s eyes widened, amazed as he felt how soft the lips of the figure was. “Wow. Softer than those of my ex-girlfriends.” he mused and grinned at the same time, realizing that maybe availing this lover figure wasn’t a bad idea after all.
A few seconds later, Jin finally heard the guy groan softly. Slowly, the figure’s eyes started to open and then sat up in front of him. Jin wasn’t really sure why but he could definitely hear his own heart beating so fast, even more when the figure leaned towards him, taking him in to another kiss.
After the kiss, the figure stared into Jin’s eyes and smiled before finally greeting him.
“Nice to meet you, love.”
