Ok, I think we need more water, and yes cranberries can totally sub for raisins. Might even toss in a few dried apricots because OMG I agree they are totally delish. I can bring the organic stuff--just remind me. Oh! And put down 2-3 bottles of wine. At least one for dinner on Saturday, and then the remainder to be used for drunken revelry, etc. Although maybe only two, since I totally plan on buying some bottles of mead once we get there.

Looking over the list as a whole I think that we will have way too much stuff. We just need to make sure that we eat the perishable foods first, top priority. Because stuff like bread, peanut butter, jerky, granola bars, etc. can always be taken home afterwards. Nobody wants four-day old zucchini that's been sitting in five inches of tepid water in a cooler in my car. I'm kind of thinking we could skip the sausage & biscuits breakfast thing, since we'll have bread, peanut butter, granola bars, and banana nut bread to choose from.

So, to simplify.

LE MENU.

Arrive on Thursday. Dinner will be cooked in a foil packet, (LEAN) stew meat with chopped onions, carrots, zucchini, squash, and spices that I will put in a baggie together (Lowry's Seasoning Salt, garlic powder, dried rosemary, oregano, and thyme). Trust me this will be delicious. (I'm so tempted to be a snob and bring actual garlic with a press and all, but I won't.)

Friday breakfast can be water or tea with honey, with uncooked food options (see end of first paragraph) or we can try the biscuit-on-a-stick adapted to make pigs in a blanket. Which reminds me. For this and s'mores we will need sticks. I think I can provide some nice metal ones.

Friday lunch can be PBJ's or something. I figure we'll be busy seeing everything there is to see, and if we opt for the big breakfast then we can just snack on granola bars, oranges, trail mix, jerky, etc.

Friday night we wanted to do Mac & Jack Daniels for ourselves and whoever else we can bring to our fire. I think I'd like to double the recipe (triple if we know we'll have more than four people eating with us) and add chopped onions, canned beans, and maybe some of the bell pepper, finely diced, if it looks like it would be good. Maybe a handful of herbs/spices, garlic powder is always a good thing. I honestly have no idea what this will turn out like. Could be a major hit, could be a disaster. I just have to try it. If it doesn't work, we'll pig out on s'mores (maybe with some of those dried apricots, omg!) and go get drunk and it won't matter anyway. :)

Saturday breakfast same as Friday. If we want more substantial lunch, we can do baked potatoes and/or corn on the cob in the coals. Butter and salt, tasty and simple.

Saturday dinner, we talked about doing some keilbasa with cheese, crackers, and red wine. Chop up an apple or two and we have ourselves a feast. I like smoked gouda, but we can do whatever. I think while all this is going on we could set the cherry cobbler to cook and have a merry old time. (Good idea w/ the cobbler, how'd you know that's my favorite kind of dessert??)

This leaves us with Sunday breakfast and maybe lunch, depending on when we decide to leave. I bet we'll have enough stuffs leftover to slice up a potato with whatever's left of the veggies, sprinkle with some herbs, and feed ourselves. Basically, whatever we haven't eaten should go into this.

God I am such a cancer.

YAY!!! Alright, I've refined our menu, and consquently our food list, and taken off a few things. We'll probably only need one Zuchini, one Squash, one Carrot, etc. I threw out the Bell Pepper since we have so many of the other veggies already.

I went for the Smoked Corn and Potatos on Saturday afternoon. Then we'll feast on foods we don't have to cook into Saturday night, and finish up with the cobbler. If there is any left over, we can snack on that Sunday morning, or revert back to the rest of our goodies.

This is so much fun. We ARE such Cancers!!! hahaha
