AlephThe FoolLiber AL vel Legis, Ch. 3Podcast of Chapter 3 Dua Ra-Hoor-Khuit!
"Fear not at all; fear neither men nor Fates, nor gods, nor anything. Money fear not, nor laughter of the folk folly, nor any other power in heaven or upon the earth or under the earth. Nu is your refuge as Hadit your light; and I am the strength, force, vigour, of your arms." - AL III.17
"I am the Hawk-Headed Lord of Silence & of Strength; my nemyss shrouds the night-blue sky." - AL III.70
After the infinity of Nuit and the infinite contraction of Hadit, we come to Ra-Hoor-Khuit, their synthesis. He is much more on the human scale, and it's not the prettiest of pictures. In fact, He comes across (to me, at least) as downright scary.
Ra-Hoor-Khuit is associated with action, making Him appropriate for the end of the Holy Season. I've been trying to pull my different New Years into a framework that makes sense instead of just having a bunch because it's fun and my traditions say I should. I see the Thelemic New Year as a New Year of action and manifestation, and it's appropriate to begin and end on that note. (I invoked Horus again and rededicated my shrine today - it seemed fitting.) It's time to go out and kick some butt, but remember, "As brothers fight ye!" (AL III.59)
Today's card is the Fool, and this path, the final leap from Chokmah (highest emotions, sourceless creativity) to Kether (the ineffable), corresponds with Air. (Both things I associate with myself.) Interestingly enough, both are associated with beginnings. (The Fool is also sometimes put at the end of the sequence, or completely outside it.) This makes sense. The exploration of the Tree and the Will is just a start to the process of the Work. It has to continue the rest of the year, every year.
It all begins here.
