Long weekend of suckage

Lost the power supply in my PC thursday night after a series or really bad storms. So after two trips to work that evening to get a tester and a new power supply I get it going. Friday, it starts to hang up in games, and anything too graphical caused resets...OS is about 1.5 yrs since last install, so I think corruption.. Sooo, I do a windows reinstall...and cannot even install SP2 on the PC....graphics corrupt around the progress bar and it reboots. I puts in an old graphjic cards...no reboots, no hangups...no games (this is an ancient card).

Saturday - At this point, I go get a new video card....and the PC then dies 100%...nothing...fans power up, no POST or video. Put old card in, same. So, its 8:30pm Saturday when I hit Fry's parking lot at Indianapolis....buy a new MB and CPU (since I tried the CPU in an older compatible board earlier and it didn't go). Drive home...installl cpu, board and new video card....working PC. But nothing like dropping nearly $400 that I wasn't expecting to drop.
Sunday - spend the whole damn day reinstalling things and sorting crap from before the crash....

What annoys me most is, the PC goes through two surge protectors....and WHY do effiing power supplies ALWAYS have to overvoltate when they fail?

*sigh* Well, at least the new ATI X1300 Pro PCIe video card really kicks ass in Second Life and WoW.
