so clearly I've been remiss in not having watched saturday morning cartoons in a long time. And, somehow, in turning on the television this morning I tuned right in to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and GI JOE. you know, like the old cartoons that I watched as a kid?
Ninja Turtles without the utterly inappopriate west-coast surfer slang, and batman-animated-series meets lil' orphan annie pupil-less eyes? In fact, they all sound like batman.
GI-JOE is now DNA altered man-vs-machine, ninja-mecha-cyber-hacking. Need I mention distinctly anime character design, animation, and composition? The female characters look like they're seven or eight. COBRA is still around with a few inappopriately eastern-european bad guys. It's very confusing to have sword slashing ninja-attack background and
sharp weapons in a blood free environments.
call me old-fashioned, but random desert laser battles and WWF heroes - that should be a child's first impression of what the US army is all about.
