Thanks, sweetie! Yeah, oops? LOL

I'm really fond of the first part with them as kids. I felt it was important to establish Sam seeing John go through something like that, having Dean take care of him so when we do get to that second part, we know one of the (many) reasons behind Sam's defensiveness and protectiveness over Dean when John's treating him like that. And yeah, while I was writing that part about Sam hitting John I almost wasn't sure if I should have it in there, if it made it seem to OOC or not. But ultimately I ended up keeping it because it felt right. And honestly I've felt like throttling John a few times myself, so...selfishly I totally kept that part in there for me. :) Glad you liked it.

As I was writing that third part I wanted to write it while Dean was still 26 (what with Sam being 6 and 16 in the previous parts), and the idea of him being hurt again so soon after the whole "Faith" thing was too good to pass up. Yeah, you think I do a good job of that? Thanks! A part of me feels like it's forced but if you think I mix the fluff and the angst well then I must be doing something right. ;)

Thanks, hon. I'm glad you liked it! And yeah, I noticed that. Totally my fault. Blame it on a hastily posted attempted LJ-cut. :P I really should know better than to try and post fic 15 minutes before I have to leave for work. *rolls eyes* I'll just have to fix it once I get home later tonight. Oh, and like I said I'll be posting this one over on the board later tonight too. :)

Oh yes, the establishment of their bond as children was key. And having Sam being all defensive over John's treatment of him was great. I can see why you might have thought Sam hitting John would be OOC but they almost came to blows once before (that episode where they are arguing by the side of the road and Dean has to break it up?). Throw in Sam being pissed over how John is treating Dean and I think that would be enough to push Sam over the edge (along with his youth).

I noticed the "6" theme, figured it was intentional (yay me!). And I think you do a lovely job of mixing fluff with angst, sweetie!

Oh I've done weird things with posts while putting them up myself, so I understand. All fixed now, I see! And I'll have to check out the post on the board when I'm on tonight.

Yeah, they did in Salvation. That was actually the scene I was thinking about when I wrote that part. Probably one of the reasons I kept going back and forth on whether I should have Sam hit John. But you bring up a good point about Sam still being young there. Yeah, let's go with that. heh

Yep, it was intentional. I thought about Sam being the one who was 26 but ultimately thought it'd work better having Dean be the one who was 26 since like I said because of the whole being injured so soon after "Faith". And part of it's an OCD thing. When I can have things be similar or as close to the same as they can be I'm gonna make it happen. LOL
Aww, thanks, hon! :)

Yep, got it all figured out! Knew it was just because I was rushed earlier that I would even have an issue with it to begin with. :P But cool, glad you want to check it out again over on the board.

Ah, cool that you were thinking of that scene then! And yes, at that younger age Sam wouldn't have learned the restraint he showed later so it totally fits that he wouldn't be able to stop himself.

I think it works really well having the Dean at 26 thing. Plus, like you said, this way you got to tie it into "Faith".
