Safely home.

And at work.... *sigh*

Thanks to angriest for transport and offers of accommodation and setting up the actual accommodation I ended up with with mortonhall for the Wednesday night and Thursday day while Perth was a no fly zone due to ash. I managed to book another flight online for Thursday evening and mortonhall kindly drove me to the airport. It was a bit later flight than the original was, but not any more expensive thankfully so provided I get the refund on the previous flight that got cancelled I should be good bar the credit card booking fee since bpay can't be used for flights that leave the next day.

Many thanks to those who offered places to stay, both locally to Melbourne, and farther afield. Your generosity is appreciated.
I was lucky in that for me it was more of an inconvenience than a critical problem, but it really did bring home to me what dalekboy said in the late night panel he and angriest did on Sunday of Continuum 7. On the whole the fannish community is very generous, both with their time, and offers of assistance, and in some cases money (though thankfully that was not an issue here).

I did have a great time at Continuum. Provided that work is good and there are no clashes, I intend on returning next year when it's the Natcon as well. With crafty stuff.
