A whole month

Another day, another load of marking. I've also realised by looking at my dayscore chart and my DW/LJ archive that I've been posting nearly every day for over a month now. Which means I've been doing this habits thing for over a month.

And overall I'm feeling pretty good about that. My shelving is likely to be finished by the end of the week. Next week at the latest. I've already made a significant dent in my filing and it's looking good to continue. I'm getting some time back by not spending very much time at all on FB. My other social media sites I look at now and again but they're not using nearly as much of my time. Which is good because I don't have that much time these days.

What with the meetings I had yesterday I didn't actually have time to go to the gym yesterday, but I did get to badminton this afternoon. So at least some exercise. I might try and squeeze some in tomorrow after the rpm class. If I get to that. I've got a lecture to record I think, which should be the last one for the semester and then it's mark more, do workshop, mark more, mark more, and maybe for a change, mark some more. And the lab on Friday. I would like to get the labs for that group done by then. So that's going probably to be my priority after this assignment marking. I've got some of the catchup labs marked. At at least one of the tutorials shouldn't take that long since it was not involving a test. I just have to see if they made a reasonable attempt at the work, and then give them marks or don't.

I might be getting a bit faster. I think I've got 2/3 of this assignment done and speeding up a bit. And I've checked that none of them have missed the cover sheet so that's good. Add in various bits and pieces and answering emails and it's keeping me pretty busy.

So, I am moving on and keeping going. One step after another. I am pretty happy about the shelving. It's really coming on nicely. To the point that I'm having to not put anything on the inserts for the bottom shelves as I don't have enough books to double up on every shelf. But that's fine. Gives me some room to move, and while I do still love ebooks (just bought a new one this morning, Carousel Seas by Sharon Lee, last in that trilogy) I also like having some physical books.

This evening was gaming night and while for a little while it looked like we might have some extras, they failed to eventuate so we ended up playing gulo gulo for a bit, a game that requires steady hands. I'm surprisingly not as bad at it as I thought I would be. It's also one of the games where being a child isn't really a disadvantage because small fingers work better. Basically you're a wolverine, going along a path. The path has lots of different colours which match coloured 'eggs' in a nest. there's also a little egg on a stick that you stand up in the nest. To move on to a different tile of the path you have to pick up out of the nest an egg of the matching colour. Without letting the stick fall out. You can see where the small fingers could come in handy. Some eggs are small, others are big, none of them are particularly easy.

We also had a game of TransEuropa which is a game involving trains, track laying and the frequent cries of 'This hand sucks!' Which it usually does. My first hand was actually fairly nice, as hands go, but a latter one involved trying to get to Madrid. This was not nearly near enough to the established track (You can build off others track once you link to it, which is a benefit to you, but they can then link of your track, which may be a benefit to them). Add in rivers and mountains to make some places harder to go through and it's an interesting strategy game.

I also have almost finished a small blanket out of pink and white granny squares that I overproduced for my chequered one, 2x3 white in the middle with a hot pink border. Planning to make another one with the colours swapped. Considering doing a border round the edges but not sure what to do with it.

And since I want to try going to bed a bit earlier I'm going to finish there. Dishes are done. Duolingo is done. Khan academy is done, and all the other habits are ticked off.
