First of all, thank you so much for writing a story for me! Any fic with these characters will make me happy, so please just write what seems fun and interesting to you!
If it’s helpful, here are some things I like:
I like slash, gen and het equally (I like F/F less, but in the right hands, with the right characters, it's all good)-I’ll be as happy with a G story as I will with one that’s NC-17.
h/c is bulletproof for me, especially of the minor-injury/sick!fic/comfort!fic variety. Give character A the flu and have character B look after him/her and I’ll be yours for life.
If you do feel like writing porn, I’m quite partial to kink, if you can make it plausible for the characters. Any kind of sensation play/ pain play is great, as long as it’s RACK. Consent play and AMTDI are great too.
I love crossovers, so if for some reason we’ve matched on more than one fandom, feel free to mix and match. I don’t really like AUs, unless it’s in the service of a crossover.
Other things: being in dubious battle; unexpected moments of empathy; compassion; connection; courage; honor; competency--but also moments of uncertainty and failure.
Things I don't like: mpreg; watersports; non-canonical character deaths; kid!fic and fluffy animal!fic.
also: I love fic exploring spirituality and religious practices of all kinds, including Christianity, but my enjoyment of fic about the cozier cultural aspects of Christmas is pretty limited (which is a roundabout way of saying, no Christmas!fic, pls--though if you want to write me some Chanukah fic, especially for canonically Jewish characters, that would be great ;))
Homeland (Carrie, Brody, Saul, Dana)
I wrote Homeland fic for Yuletide last year, and I thought I'd gotten it out of my system. But three episodes into S2 and I realized I was wrong!
Anything involving some combination of these characters would be wonderful. I have a particular yen for Carrie and Saul and the moment (gen, or even paired in a S2 scenario--a fic about how they got to be so close would be lovely). But I also think Carrie/Brody is one of the hottest things ever to show up on my TV screen, so that's welcome too--as kinky and explicit as you like! And Brody's relationship with his daughter has been completely fascinating since the end of S1, so I'd love more of that. I loved the episodes in S1 that touched on Saul's Judaism, and I'd really love an exploration of that. In other words--no need to get all four in there! A fic about just one or them would be great.
The Killing (Linden, Holder, Jamie, Darren)
Again, I'm interested in all four characters, but probably not together. The relationship between Linden and Holder is utterly compelling to me, and I'd love to see some exploration of it--anything from gen to NC-17, during the series or after.
I'd love more back story for Holder especially. What was it like for him to get clean? How about that tattoo? (I love ink!fic). A fic exploring some of his undercover experiences would be really interesting.
Jamie and Darren fascinated me in S2, even before the final reveal. If you'd like to fill in the blanks of Jamie's thinking, that would be awesome. I'm particularly interested in Jamie's sticking with Darren in the hospital when everyone else flees, and I'd love a missing scene related to that.
Last Resort (Kendal, Chaplin, Grace Shepherd)
I'm pretty open here, since I don't think there's any fic for the show yet (and it may very well have been canceled by the time Yuletide fics are due). I would love back story about what happened so that Sam feel so deeply indebted to Marcus. I'd love back story about Sam's captivity (or how he deals with the memory of it in the present).
I would love one of those cliche submarine fics where there's a crisis (usually a medical crisis) going on while the ship's in silent running, and they have to deal with it without making a sound. Or, a medical crisis for one of the characters after all the hospital workers have fled the island.
I nominated characters for this when only few episodes had aired, and I'm kicking myself for not nominating the COB and Cortez, so if you wanted to include them, particularly them dealing with Chaplin, I'd be thrilled! I think that the relationship between Grace and the COB is one of the most interesting things on the show atm, so exploring that in a fic would be great too.
Regeneration ( W.H. Rivers, Billy Prior.)
This one is a holdover from last year, since I'm an eternal optimist :)
I think my dream fic for this would be something that takes place during the time Prior stays with Rivers in The Eye in the Door (just assuming the Regeneration tag covers the whole trilogy). They have such an intimate and multilayered relationship by that point in the story, if not an altogether comfortable one, and I'd love to see an exploration of it. That said, though, I guess I'd prefer that the fic be as reticent about Rivers's (rl) sexuality as the novels are--though UST would be fine. Or something intense and non-sexual.
Now, if you do feel like writing porn, feel free to put Prior with anybody else, male or female, and let loose any or all of his canonical kinks. That would be awesome too!
