YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD THAT I WENT TO SEE MUSE LIVE ON MONDAY NIGHT
IT WAS FUCKING EPIC
JUICY DETAILS UNDER CUT PLUS HEAPS OF VIDS
(now edited to add ~MOAR~, think the cut has messed up now)
(cut text is a lolsome quote from the one and only Matt Bellamy. formatting in this post is all over the place, sorry)
Right, what can I say?
My seats were... rather different from the ones I first squeed about, lol. I don't think I mentioned that - they were actually Block R Row J, which was round at the side. They were pretty good, could see a lot that was happening - EXCEPT WHEN THE TOWERS WERE UP. Yeah, I should maybe explain - the current stage design has these three huge towers covered in video screens that go up and down - so sometimes it's completely flat and you wouldn't know they were there. When it was like that, I had a great view - but when they were up, THERE WAS A HUGE FUCKING SPEAKER HANGING DOWN THAT BLOCKED MY VIEW OF MATT'S TOWER D: Could only see his feet when it was up. And what I could see of Matt's tower blocked the screens on Dom's tower D: It was a real fucking pain - I could deal with it during the guitar-based songs, but for United States of Eurasia and Feeling Good I was gutted that I couldn't see his beautiful light-up grand piano. Well, keyboard, but shaped like a grand piano.

Really could have been a bit longer considering they've released five albums, but a good setlist overall. Very rock, less piano than I think is usual. Sad that we weren't the first to get MK Ultra :( Turns out they soundchecked it and everything! But no, Birmingham had that honour on Tuesday night. So close, yet so far. Really sad that Bliss seems to have been dropped :(
Some general good and bad points, in somewhat chronological order:
Good
- The "OI!"s from the crowd in Uprising
- The "COULD BE WRONG, COULD BE WRONG!"s from the crowd in Resistance- AWESOME NEW BORN RIFF
- AWESOME NEW BORN LASERS - VID IS FROM DIFFERENT GIG BUT WHATEVER

Great "I WANT IT NOOOOOOOW!"s from crowd too. Funny bit at 2:56 where Matt walked over to Chris and they headbanged together.
- "EURRRRAAAAA-SIA! SIA! SIA! SIAAAAA!"
- Feeling Good was actually amazing! I groaned when it came on as I would have preferred Cave (they have kind of been swapping around on setlists this tour) or at least one of their own songs, but it got a HUGE cheer from the audience, and it seemed like EVERYONE was singing along. Great fun. Megaphone bit sounded a little too echoey though, don't know what was up with that.

- MOTHERFUCKING BAGPIPES

I hate bagpipes, but that was truly awesome. Once-in-a-lifetime, can't see them doing that anywhere else.
- Undisclosed Desires keytar dance! This video is from a different gig but it shows it in all its glory. (Mic wasn't turned on for the first line)

- Undisclosed Desires lasers - made the back wall look all sort of starry.
- Crowd singing in Undisclosed Desires - the chorus in particular.
- starlight clapping yey. I wonder how many people in the audience knew that what they were clapping was Morse code for "tits".
- PLUG IN BABY! It was just awesome. Great guitar riff, and Matt let the audience sing a whole chorus by ourselves. MY PLUG IN BAAAABYYYYY

- PLUG IN BABY BALLOONS! I have no idea what gig this vid is from, and it's definitely not during Plug In Baby, but Matt's keyboard accompaniment is just too funny.

- Time Is Running Out! Another one where Matt let us sing along.

flaily "COME ON!" arms ftw
- UNNATURAL SELECTION. 2:57 onwards = awesome. They never got the end though :(

(Why yes, I did have a good perve at 3:33.)
All the "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCCCEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAN!"s were great too.
- Dom's drumming in Exogenesis. He seemed to have something else besides his usual drum kit... don't know what it was, couldn't see well enough.
- STOCKHOLM SYNDROME HEADBANGFEST. Picked this vid because of the title alone, lmao.

- KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA WAS QUITE HONESTLY ONE OF THE GREATEST THINGS I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. SO MUCH FUCKING CROWDSINGING AND DANCING AND RIFFS AND FISTPUMPING AND SHIT

SOUND QUALITY IS ALL OVER THE PLACE BUT YOU GET THE IDEA. I ASSURE YOU, IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME.
- OMFG THEY WAVED AT ME. MATT DEFINITELY DID. I KNOW THEY WAVED AT THE WHOLE PLACE AND IT WAS JUST IN MY GENERAL DIRECTION BUT I WAS LIKE "SHITE! WHAT DO I DO?? FLAIL AROUND? OKAY! *FLAIL*"
- The pit looked completely mental. Everyone seemed to sort of move as one organism.
- MATTHEW FUCKING BELLAMY. He has talent coming out of his arse. Seriously though, he seemed to have endless amounts of energy, powersliding all over the place. It was exhausting to watch. He seemed really cheerful tonight, kept doing these sort of "come on!" gestures at the crowd and punching the air. Note: if I ever again come out with anything like "oh, he's really weird looking, he's got wonky teeth, he's got a weird nose", give me a virtual slap because that boy is hot and I'm just in denial. Also - PINK TROUSERS FTW.
- DOMINIC FUCKING HOWARD. I didn't get to see much of him, hiding behind his drumkit, but he was smiley as ever and I think he talked the most out of the three, just general "Cheers! You're wicked!" type things. Great drumming of course. On a required shallow note, he had lovely floofy hair.
- CHRISTOPHER FUCKING WOLSTENHOLME. Chris is so massively underappreciated (is that a word?) - his basslines are the driving force of so many Muse songs. He was up on our side of the stage for two such songs, Hysteria and Time Is Running Out :D He seemed to headbang the whole way through the concert. Funny seeing him after having Matt up there for a few songs - Matt is tiny and skinny, while Chris is just... BUILT. Not particularly fat or muscly. Just BUILT. Louise (friend I was with) sort of giggled a bit at one point and said "Have you not noticed the guitarist [she meant Chris] is kinda hot?" It's official, she now fancies everyone in Muse. Also, Matt is "funny weird hot" and Dom is "mental", haha.
Bad
- The Big Pink as support band. All their songs sounded the same and their strobe lights gave me a headache. Disappointing. It was funny when they mentioned Muse before their last song and that word alone got a louder cheer than their entire set xD I did try to give them a chance, but it was just dull.- STUPID FUCKING SPEAKER IN MY STUPID FUCKING WAY
- Sound was slightly iffy where we were, don't think the guitar was very clear. Surprisingly, the piano was the loudest of all the instruments for me xD I could feeling it whumpfing me in the chest. Bizarre.
- Guiding Light :( It's an alright song, but... it was just pretty boring. It wasn't slow enough to wave phones/lighters about to, but it wasn't rock enough to dance/headbang to. No-one seemed to know what to do. I was entertained by the Vienna-ish clapping at first, but lost interest. Though it seems I was doing it wrong, lmao. I'd been doing "clap-clap, clap clap-clap, CLAP", but no, Mr Bellamy gave us a masterclass in Guiding Light Clapping (Starlight Clapping too) and apparently its "clap-clap, clap clap-clap, FISTPUMP" xD
- Strangely... Exogenesis! :( I think it was mainly because I could see bugger all, and the visuals are such an important part of it. No-one around me was very excited about it either, and that always drags the mood down.
- This idiot boy next to me who did NOTHING the entire gig. Just stared straight ahead. He didn't bob his head or anything. I think he'd been dragged along by his enthusiastic mother and sister. Such a contrast to the awesome woman in front of me who was really into it! I felt like saying "GO YOU" to her, she must have been in her 40s but she was dancing away and singing her heart out.
THAT IS ALL I CAN REMEMBER RIGHT NOW, I KNOW I'VE FORGOTTEN HEAPS
EDIT: Some other stuff I want to say.:
- WHY THE FUCK DOESN'T MATT PLAY THE PIANO INTRO TO NEW BORN ANY MORE, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT D: D: D:
- I think they should have swapped Unnatural Selection and Stockholm Syndrome. SS is more of a closing song than US, with all the insane riffs+improv at the end and the general epicness. US is epic too of course, but I don't think it should have closed the set - it doesn't quite have that finality. It was awkward having SS build to such a climax and then still having Knights of Cydonia after. Exogenesis flowed into it really well though.
- There was a group of people outside from "We Are Change Glasgow" handing out leaflets about demanding a new 9/11 investigation. I would have loved to have stayed and talked to them, but obviously I was anxious to get in. They certainly picked the right gig though - I doubt I would have known all the things on their leaflet about WTC 7 if it wasn't for Muse. While I'm on the subject, I'd like to have a rant about how the media portrays Matt. Yes, he is indeed more than a bit zany, but some of the things said about him because of his beliefs are completely fucking ridiculous, and irrelevant. It actually really annoys me how many reviews there are that start off by saying how he is complete crackpot for believing 9/11 is an inside job. What the fuck does that have to do with the music? It also annoys me how they concentrate on all the stuff about Zetas and lizard people. He doesn't actually believe most of those theories, he's just interested in them, but by constantly focussing on the bonkers stuff they cheapen all the things he has to say about the government and the media (and obviously 9/11), and he ends up just being thought of as crazy, when he actually has some very good points. Maybe if the people writing those reviews actually did some fucking investigation instead of just rubbishing everything, they might find themselves agreeing. /rant
- When I was leaving, there was man in front of me wearing a Radiohead T-shirt xD Oho, I wonder if he knew what he was doing.
- When Louise and I were trying to find the toilets, we passed two girls and one of them was wearing the same T-shirt as me. I said "that girl's got the same top as me" to Louise, and then next thing we hear the girl saying to her friend "that girl has the exact same top as me" xD
- I only remembered this when I watched a video of Uprising and noticed what guitar Matt was using. At the start, when there were tech guys scurrying around setting up equipment and testing instruments, I kept watching to see if I could spot Muse coming on stage - the towers are covered by huge curtains at the beginning, and I think there might have been a way for the three of them to get on their towers underneath the stage, but I'd heard from people at other gigs that a few minutes before the lights go off you can see them moving around inside and the towers moving up. So, I was just watching the stage, when something very shiny and guitar-shaped caught the light underneath the curtain on Matt's tower. I basically just went ":O" and watched very carefully, waiting to see if it was just another techy (one of them had walked in carrying the Glitterati earlier on and come back out, but I hadn't seen anyone going in this time), but I had been waiting for a few minutes and gave up. Seconds later, the lights went off and I forgot all about it :D It was only watching the video that I saw he had indeed used one of his mirrored guitars for Uprising. I'm pretty chuffed with myself for spotting him. I'm not sure why.
- I made a mistake earlier on - Chris wasn't up on the "wing" bit nearest to us for Hysteria, sadly. Pretty sure I was right about him being there for Time Is Running Out though.
- I could see Matt's prominent cheekbones from my seat xD They really are just that obvious. They just looked like big black slashes on his cheeks.
- PICTURES!!!! Really bad though, sorry. I only took a few because I didn't really want to drag my eyes away, lol.
What it looked like when I'd just got in
The Big Fail Pink
Uprising - you can see my speaker predicament. Sorry for blurriness.
Starlight. Crap, I know. Looking at that, I realise I could have taken so many good pictures :(
I think that's all for now xD Might remember more tomorrow.
