So...I haven't been on LJ for a little over a month. Things have been busy and I've been a little depressed...so I've withdrawn a bit.
Life updates:
- My potential boy has no potential. He "doesn't know what he wants," and I've finally decided that means that he likes me but can't be bothered to date me. Nice. Real nice. I've accepted the fact that I'm never gonna see what could have been, but I can't change how I feel no matter how hard I try. What makes things worse is that we're Facebook friends, and most of the stuff he posts I actually like. As in, I'm not sucking up to him, I really, truly like it. *sigh* I'll just have to wait this one out.
- I'm trying to be a little healthier. I drink a cup of green tea a day, eat salad for lunch, and have been exercising regularly. It's not that big a deal, but I'm happy with these minor positive changes.
- School is ok. I like my students for the most part, and they seem to like me too. So far, I've been told that I'm "mad chill," "the teacher with the coolest stuff," and "the gangsta-est teacher in the school." They also "appreciate my enthusiasm." And one of my outfits was said to be (a) like a rock star's and/or (b) like a vampire. Thanks to budget cuts, there are some issues (like the fact one of my classes is WAY too big and teachers can't get to a lot of school supplies), but I started out teaching in Catholic school, so it's nothing new to me.
I'm also trying to do a "31 Horror Movies in 31 Day"-thing this year. Movies I've watched so far:
- "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" - I own it, so I've seen it before. Tim Burton + Johnny Depp + Helena Bonham-Carter + Musical + Psychotic Killer Barber = WIN!
- "The Crazies" - I know it's a re-make, but it stars the mouth-watering Timothy Olyphant...in a sheriff's uniform...sporting scruff. How could I resist? Anyway, I ended up really enjoying it, although I was reminded why I don't watch horror movies by myself in the middle of the night. I kept screaming these wussy little girl screams and covering my eyes. Still...nothing beats a good scare.
- "Nosfaratu" - This was my first silent movie...and though some parts were completely ridiculous, I was pleasantly surprised by it. A must-see for true vampire/horror fans.
Tomorrow I'm going to see "Let Me In" with my brother. The original movie was great, and the novel is AMAZING. I think the re-make has a lot of potential...
Lastly, new "quote of the moment" in my components section: "As I always say, one must never be afraid to look deep down into the darkest depths of oneself where the light never reaches." ~ Elizabeth, "Daughters of Darkness"
