Odds and Ends...

I've been thinking about a lot of different things today...so I thought I'd just ramble on about them randomly.  Enjoy...

  • I finally updated my website!  It's only been, I don't know, seven months...and it's not a huge update, but it's an update nonetheless.  I'm really going to make an effort to work on it regularly from now on.  No more letting ( Read more... )

Seriously...like poor Anakin doesn't have enough problems without people making stuff up.

I didn't actually read any of the "Anakin is a sicko pervert" articles until after I saw the movie, but I saw the titles, and I have to admit that I was a little concerned walking into the theatre. I was relieved to discover that there wasn't even the slightest implication of impropriety. I agree with you - they have a total brother/sister thing going on.

And as much as I'm against the whole "sexing-up" of young girls that has, sadly, become almost the norm in our society, I didn't get that vibe from Ahsoka either. I mean, I guess her outfit was a bit revealing, but I barely noticed. It seemed normal within the "Star Wars" universe. How some critics got the impression that she was supposed to be some kind of "Lolita" is beyond me.

Sex. Sex. Sex. There's a time and place for that...and somehow, I don't think "Clone Wars" is either. It's like those people who watch Disney movies frame-by-frame to find some kind of secret, subliminal sex message. Give me a break - get a life!

(Actually, as far as the Disney movies go... there are a couple of creepy moments that I know of, which I admittedly didn't notice until someone pointed them out to me.)

Ahsoka's outfit didn't bother me - like you say, you hardly notice it as the movie goes on. I mean, it looks kind of impractical, and I wouldn't be upset if at some point she dons more traditional Jedi attire, but I've seen worse. Aayla Secura, for instance - and she's got a lot more to worry about covering than little Ahsoka!

If any overt female sexing up was going on, is was Padme's suddenly super-curvy figure in that Geonosis-like bodysuit (speaking of which, when was the last time we EVER saw her wear the same outfit twice?). Even in the Padawan-baiting corset she didn't have curves like that!

I had major issues with Padme's Geonosis-like outfit as well.

First, the curviness factor - I think most of her is pretty accurate as far as proportions are concerned...it's her waist that's different. Apparently, Padme has been on a diet. Or, perhaps she's so worried about Anakin that she can't eat. Nevertheless, she's magically become thinner, though the only weight she's seemingly lost is in the middle. If only I could be so lucky...

Hey - maybe she planned on seducing Ziro the Hutt for information. She would've done better with her daughter's infamous bikini...

Secondly, you're absolutely right - since when does she wear the same outfit twice (except once, I think, in TPM)? The artists couldn't come up with an original idea? The girl was only in two scenes, for goodness sake! A Galactic Senator should always look her best, and that means never wearing the same thing more than once. Ever. On the other hand, I did like her dress...

You're right, I think. She certainly wasn't more buxom, but - not to be crude - "baby got back" comes to mind.

And considering the direction her middle goes in RotS, I don't blame her for trimming back now, really. ;) Enjoy that figure while you can!

Given what we saw of Ziro, I'm not so sure of that. ;)

From the pictures I've seen of the series, it looks like she continues to wear the white outfit in at least one of her episodes. Sheesh, okay, I get the style's practical for high-action situations, but at the very least... make it black, or something. White is a ridiculous color for espionage!

LOL. I guess my problem is that I'm very anti-"superskinnygirls" in the media. Especially in something that's trying to look realistic. And that's meant for children. A more...normal attainable figure - like Natalie Portman's actual figure in RL - would be more appropriate. That said, she is pretty hot. I certainly wouldn't mind looking like that...

Oh, I don't know...that combination slug/cheshire cat/opium-smoking caterpillar might go for it...give him enough intergalactic drugs, who knows what he'd do...LOL

Ninja Padme! LOL Although...I stand by my "there must be some other design somewhere that's similar to that one, but still different" assertion. With all those creative minds they have working together, the best they can do is a white jumpsuit that's already been done?
