Ok...so I actually have a pretty interesting story to tell, but I'm going to hold off on it for a few weeks as a precaution. Just to make sure that nothing is going to come of it. Which I know is all mysterious of me, but I can't be too careful these days...
But there's something else about the weekend that bothered me, and sharing this shorter, less consequential tale won't get me in any kind of trouble...
So I went to my high school's football game this weekend - the first of the season. I'm not a big sports fan (I'd much rather be playing than watching), but a few of my students asked me to come, so I went. I'm quite the fan...cheering and screaming and carrying on. Anyway, when I get there the teacher I have a crush on is also there, taking pictures for yearbook or the school website or something. He's inside the fence (on the sidelines), so I can't really talk to him...instead I head over to where a couple other teachers are standing and hang out with them. I'm probably overly loud and obnoxious (not that I mean to be...but I tend to unconsciously do that kind of thing when I want to be noticed by someone, especially someone I like), but not so much that I think anyone would think anything of it. Maybe it's all in my head.
But I digress. I'm pretty sure he notices I'm there, but he doesn't come over to say hi, or even acknowledge my existence, so I'm just like "whatever." Halftime comes around, I watch the cheerleaders perform, then I go to the concession stand to get a snack. When I get back to the teachers, he's standing there, leaning on the fence, going through the pics on the camera. I don't want to bother him, so I start talking to one of the teachers...in the middle of our conversation, the guy I like looks up and says, "Oh...there you are. I just text you." I check my phone, and there it is - "Where you go?"
Grammatical errors aside, I would think this message implies several things. One - he noticed that I was there. Two - he noticed that I had disappeared. Three - he perhaps maybe was interested in talking to me. Or looking at me? Admiring me from afar?
Apparently, it was none of the above. I talked to him for about a minute, then he went back to his pictures.
WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Seriously, I just don't get it.
I mean, I'm known for reading way too much into a boy's words/actions when I have a crush on him...but still. Does this make any sense at all?
And then, later on at about 11pm, he texts me. I don't mind late-night texts (at least not on weekends), and he knows that, so I don't mind...but...I mean...you know...he said...
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
"Always the buddy girl, never the girlfriend" is really starting to get on my nerves. Especially when he's admitted that he's sorta, kinda, somewhat interested. Dude, make up your mind already. Friend? Girlfriend? Or none of the above?
