This morning did not start out badly. It seemed to start out very well.
The beginning of work even went pretty well, and things were going very smoothly.
The power went out around 3:30.
for the next 2.5 hours, we sat around wondering what we should do...
take the dishes off and reset with disposable?
change the menu?
hope the power would come back on so we could cook the food we planed on?
around 6 it was decided that we would not, in fact, drive to a different synagogue and cook the food that was half prepared and bring it back cooked (thank goodness).
we changed menus, scrambled to get the tables reset with as much plasticware as was practical, and made up a buffet of parve stuff rather than a nice chicken dinner.
made it through the crabby guests and handwashed the dishes we could, got home around 9.
and receive a call from my dad that my
2nd cousin drowned today.
needless to say, my sister's graduation party tomorrow will be sparsely attended.
it'll probably rain us out of the park tomorrow afternoon anyway.
who knows, maybe the power will come back on tomorrow and make things a bit less miserable at work.
then again, probably not.
