I'm actually kind of glad that, even after thousands of reassurances, people were still scared I'd do something awful. Because that means my writing was really affecting people. Thanks for the feedback :) Derek will be fine in the end, of course!

I think one of the things that makes this story so unique is that usually its Derek supporting Meredith through all her troubles and Meredith having the dramas - sure Derek went all emo boy for awhile there at the end of last season, but the show (understandably) and the fanfic authors largely focus on Meredith pregnant/cancer-stricken/injured/kidnapped/helpless.

This fic gives the characters a growth that's needed, a give and take between them and a necessary step to a happy ending.

I don't want brain surgery, nor do I wish it on anyone else but if you have to have brain surgery (or any other major surgery) I hope we all have our own Meredith there taking care of us as best they can, letting us know we aren't alone, loving us and willing us to keep on keeping on.

Looking forward to more soonish - as always loved it all apart from the fact it ended.

I agree. Derek is always the one who's seen as being supportive to Meredith while she freaks out. I thought the best opportunity for character development would be if I flipped their roles around. And look how it's turned out? I'm pretty happy with how this story has gone.

And you're right, waking up is hard. But having someone like Mer (or Derek if the roles were reversed) sure makes it worth the effort. :)
