i love the picture of everybody rally-ing for them. i've never thought about how meredith didn't think of derek when she messed with the trial...that was a very good point.

Thank you, thank you! This is exactly the conversation I've wanted them to have for so long, and I could just picture it.

You really captured the dynamic between them. One of my pet peeves all last season was the accusatory tone that often seemed to be Meredith's default with Derek. Almost made me wonder if she was even grateful he'd survived. Once he recovered he went back to the end of the line in her life.

Lord knows Derek's no saint (loved Lexie's take on "the strong moral compass that sometimes gets stuck on north" - perfect!) but neither is Meredith. He needs to assert himself and stop running away, and she needs to finally grasp the idea that marriage means putting your spouse first. I just want to see them really talk through their issues. Do I think the writers will give me that? Not so much. So thanks again.

Must add that I am beyond impressed that you were able to turn out such a terrific piece so quickly. Well done!

That was a conversation they really needed to have and I hope they will have a talk like that on the show soon as well. It's frustrating to see Meredith put her friends first or to just screw things up (running off with Zola) and to think of Derek last. I wish canon Derek would tell her how that makes him feel one day soon, but I'm afraid Shonda won't let him speak his mind. Which is why I'm so frustrated and detached from the show by now I guess. Her Derek doesn't make sense to me any more. So, thanks for providing a happy fanfic bubble for us...
