It's so good to finally see Richard admit that he drank himself out of the job, no matter what he or anyone else thinks about Derek's motivation for reporting him to the Board--and for him to try to heal the breach between him and Derek. I still can't believe that Shonda, et. al, haven't already shown a scene like this. If they could show Thatcher trying to make things right with Lexie and Meredith, why can't they show Richard doing the same?

THIS is a perfect example of what I mean when I say that your plots are so much better than Shonda's.

Thanks so much :) It was nice actually giving Richard some culpability. Its absence was something I missed very much on the show.

Awwww....Loved this!! It's still tough to see Derek like this, but it's easier too, because he's getting better, little by little!

Can't wait until the go on their trip! Does Sam get to come along? I love how they interact with her....Heck, I just love they fact that they have a dog! LOL!

Wonderful chapter! :-)

Thanks so much :) I know it's tough, but you're right. He is getting better, step by step!

Aww :') Meredith and Derek talking about the pregnancy makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Loved Richard! I really did. He's much more likable in your story, and I'm glad he realized that he got himself fired. Glad they're back to being friends. I loved the ending, that was very sweet of him. Last but not least, Mark and Derek :) my favorite bromance.

I always want more, I'll try to be patient :)

Thank you so much for the feedback :) I'm glad you liked Richard! I usually love to hate him, although on the show lately, I've been liking him. I was glad to be able to add another facet to Derek's support structure, and give Richard a redeeming moment.

Wonderful chapter! I like your Richard so much more than I like the person he became on the show.

I'm so happy that Derek is finally getting help and even though it was hard to be in his head again (with Gary Clarke and all) it's so good to see that he is willing and ready to get help and to even take the anti-depressents. I wish they had used Dr. Wyatt more on the show, because I really liked her character and you managed to capture that character in your fic as well.

Can't wait for the 48 uninterrupted hours :)

Thank you so much for the feedback :) It really is hard to be in Derek's head. It's hard to write in it, frankly, which is why I seem to gravitate toward Meredith chapters. It's a lot easier to write Derek from the outside looking in than from the inside looking out.

It's great that Derek is finally seeing Dr. Wyatt and letting himself get help. I love that he's already thinking about the kind of father he wants to be, and his hesitation about taking the Paxil is definitely something Derek would worry about. I wasn't expecting Richard to play such a big part in Derek's recovery, but I'm glad that he is. Can't wait for Mer and Derek's trip to the cabin! They could really use a vacation, even if it's a short one. Awesome chapter, as always.

Thank you for the feedback! I was so happy to write this part. It is a bit rough, but it was nice to finally finally show Derek taking some steps to fix himself instead of spiraling downward. They could definitely use a vacation. So could I! I've been having fun writing it.
