Thank you so much :) Derek is a mess right now. He is definitely a caregiver. I think that's a fundamental aspect of his character. He doesn't derive his 'manliness', so to speak, from his physical prowess so much as his ability to care for others and to not need to be cared for himself. I imagine that this would have been cultivated from a very early age, since his father died, and there was no one else to assume the 'man of the house' role.

Another brilliant chapter. Wow! It's so heartwrenching and painful like I'm right there with them suffering through all of this. It's going to be such a long road of recovery, physically and even more emotionally.

Thank you so much for the feedback. Derek is certainly a mess right now, and I'm afraid, excluding a few respites along the road, that it's only going to get worse before it gets better. His world is upside down right now, and it's going to take him a while to make sense of it.

Thank you for the feedback :) Derek and Meredith are both in a bad way right now, and both healing. It's the sort of situation I love to write about, because the conflict is being generated from within, and it's something that, as a couple, they need to learn to deal with in order to move forward.

Oh that was wonderful, * claps loudly * I love the idea of Derek comforting Meredith when he himself is in so much pain. That is so him. I love it that they are really talking too. There wasn't that much of it when he had his season 5 meltdown.

Now please excuse me while I go and kick April's ass. God, could she be any more annoying?
