It be National Talk Like A Pirate Day! Avast, and tremble in ye designer flip-flops! Being that I cannot really be talkin' like this all day, I found another way to be showin' my pirate pride, by wearing a stripey shirt and a pirate bandana on my wrist. Huzzah to all me mates across the seas showing their colors today!
Las' night I were fitted for my RenFaire dress. The fine ladies of the Faire cast be helping me make a new one, as mine isn't quite right. I'll be the prettiest lady at court, excepting Her Majesty, of course! :) After that, we sat around a beach drinking rum and drank some wine with a couple other faire mates and discussed everything from strange paramedic stories, strange theater stores, strange faire stories, and how I should be assimiliated into the Terry Pratchett fanbase. (resistance be futile)
Ah! Funny story, that be very appropriate fer today's post. This fellow contacts the Faire staff, says he wants to interact with the cast and that he be "well known for playing a Storm Trooper in a CA Parade with George Lucas". He is going as Cap'n Jack Sparrow. Now, mates, there be any number of Sparrows that show up to this sort of thing, because that be what people know. But we are playing real people, who lived about 200-300 years before the fictional Cap'n Sparrow roamed the mysterious Caribbean. That be like asking a Star Wars reenactment to include someone dressed as Cap'n Kirk. Similar genre, totally wrong period. If yer gonna come in character, at least pick someone original. Or real. Idiot.
Alrighty mates, well I must get back to swabbing the deck emptying the bilge designing business cards. Hope your day be Piratey! Take what you can, Give nothing back!
