What makes a man, a man?

Is it his 'man parts'?

Is it never talking about his feelings?

Is it claiming to not have feelings?

Is it being angry all the time?

Is it simply calling himself a man?

The first I'll have within a few days. The second, third, and fourth I'm trying to do. And yet people are making the fifth extremely difficult. Just because I confessed that I almost gave ( Read more... )

I prefer to think that gender is simply something made up by society, and doesn't really exist at all. Though definitely I think that never talking about or showing his feelings does not make a man. Being angry all the time only has people look on him in fear and shame. I don't know where all these stereotypes come from, but they're bad ones. Probably the reason there's more murders committed by men than women. Can you imagine holding all your emotions inside and keeping silent, or forcing yourself to be angry all the time? Its like acid, eating at your heart.

Men do have feelings, and a lot of them. It's stereotypes and societal expectations that attempt to force us to hold them back. Don't think for a second that to "Be a man", you have to shut up about what you feel.

And despite the fact that yes, having a junk does pretty much automatically make you a 'male', it shouldn't really matter either. If you honestly think to yourself, even for just a day, "I am a male.", then you are, despite whatever gender you look like, for however long you wish to be a male. Societies perceptions are based on whether we have boobs or a cock, and apparently if we have one we can't have the other (Go shemales!). I dont believe that should be the thought, though. Gender should perhaps be eliminated, so we can get rid of the stereotypes, or simply become far less rigid.
