Japan after 24 hours...

Hello!

I have officially been in Japan for just over 24 hours, though already it feels like days. We have been very busy. We arrived last night at about 6pm local time and got all of our luggage through customs. I am glad to say that I didn't have any problems with lost baggage or anything of that nature, which is one of my biggest fears with flying.

After an additional two hours on a train (after our 13 hour plane ride) we got close enough to the school to pile our luggage into several taxis and get to the school. It's very nice. The people are great and I have a great room-mate. She's not Japanese, like I requested, but she and I have alot in common and we get along well. A group of the students hung out in the lobby, eatting our university provided "Cup Noodles" and then we retired to our rooms for the night.

I haven't really finished unpacking, but I'm taking my time with it. Really though, once I got up to the room I was damn tired and unpacked enough to find my sheets for the bed.

Our orientation came bright and early thismorning at 8:30am and we sat through about 3 hours of that, and I swear it felt like more than that. My first two actual meals in Japan were the doughnuts that they provided for breakfast and behold, the subway that they provided for lunch. Yes, Subway.

We got to sign out our bikes, and I kid you not I rode about 15 miles today, and walked my bike another two when it was very topheavy in the basket for the groceries that we bought. Next time I'll bring a backpack. I got home, sore and tired thinking that I would not under any circumstance ride my bike again for the night. Until we decided that we should ride another 6 miles round trip to go to a restaurant that didn't even end up being open...

We found a different restuarant, and I ate gyoza. When it's this hot you don't have much of an appetite, and all I wanted was about 100 more glasses of water.

So basically, that's my trip so far "in a nutshell". I'm tired, and I have to be up at 9 tomorrow for my placement test.
WISH ME LUCK.
