I had never read any of Mike Allred's MADMAN prior to yesterday (ok.. I kind of had, but not really). I had also not read Todd & Craig's The Perhapanauts. Thanks to my thrifty used bookstore purchases, I was able to do so. I read MADMAN: The Oddity Oddyssey last night, and I enjoyed it a great deal. It was funny and quirky. I thought it was compelling and fun. Unfortunately, as you all know, I live in fear of spoiling things for people, so my reviews will not get much more in depth than that at the moment. I also tend to like everything. I can't help it. Usually if I devote time to something(comic-wise) I will usually come away with something I liked about it. I am interested in reading more, and plan to seek it out soon. I like the art, I like the humor, etc.
Speaking of liking the art and humor and the etc....
Perhapanauts... I LOVE the art, There is humor in there, but it's not all humor. It's a pretty well done book with a bunch of characters I like and would like to know more about. There were a few I didn't think we saw enough of. We SAW them a lot, but didn't get much insight into Big, for instance. I adore Molly most of all I think, but I like the whole team. I will definitely look for more. There is an ongoing series that has started now, there is also a second trade already of the second mini series, and I will probably get that soon.
