Booth, on getting her call, immediately swerves through four lanes of morning rush-hour traffic and turns toward GW. The school's not too far off his route to work and it doesn't take long to get there.
And if he's late? So what. With the year he's had, he really deserves a personal day

"Hi, kiddo," Booth says, looking much too at ease for someone who has just assaulted a store patron. "Was he the only one? Harrassing members of the press seems to be a great stress reliever."
"Yeah. You get one already?" he says, going to the counter and ordering a very large, very black coffee for himself. "I owe you for the pleasure of chasing that guy out of here."
"Not at all," Booth says, paying for both drinks. "That was more fun than I've had in months."
The past few months have been rather short on fun, sad to say, but abusing a reporter would be fun even if they hadn't. Especially one who refused to leave college students alone.
"Yeah," he says, sighing. "Yeah, good times all right."
He takes his coffee and grabs a seat, staring out the window for a long moment.
"Sometimes you can forget that you're in a fishbowl, you know? Then something happens to remind you, and you wonder how everybody else in this town can ever forget it. But then you always forget, too, in the end."
Booth stares at her. "WHAT?" He then looks out the window, as if he's wishing the reporter hadn't taken off so quickly so he could rough him up a little more.

And then steps out into the store.
(She gets a mean look from a woman who she suspects has been waiting for the ladies' room this whole time.)
"Hi, Agent Booth."

"Thanks."
The manager does not look at all pleased.
"Coffee?"

She shrugs.
"And I'm pretty sure I owe you."
She orders a latte. Lots of sugar.

"He followed you in here, huh?"
Reply
Hannah shrugs.
"He's called a handful of times. I've been ignoring him, or trying to.

Hannah glances back at the street.
"Will you get in trouble? For . . . that?"

Booth shrugs. "Maybe. Probably not, although I've been all over TV lately, so it's more likely than it normally would be."

"And then he wanted to know if I thought it was all Brennan's fault."

"He had some theory that Brennan is too demanding on her assistants and that that's why Dr. Addy . . . It's completely insane."

In an insane situation, insane theories sometimes don't seem so insane to people who don't know any better.
He frowns. "Hope they don't find Clark Edison and harrass him about that. Guy deserves better."

Hannah pauses.
"How've you been?"
