Long lost me.

This past month has been crazy getting ready for the art opening at the gallery. It's a done deal now, so I can breathe a little. (Even though I have to go back there tonight to meet with a buyer).

I sold one painting the first night, and then possibly three more by the end of today. We'll see. I got lots of interested people, wanting commission work and so forth, but so much of that is just talk and they never really come through. But you never know.

And now, for something totally off the subject...what do you people think of rice? Yes, plain old rice. Brian has this strange aversion to it, and he says it tastes like 'nothing.' Yet he likes pasta. And both these things, when they don't have any sauce or anything on them, are to me the same level of blandness. I was going to make Parmesan risotto the other night and he put the brakes on that. HA. What's funny is that he bought the rice, not me. I was just going to make use of it. I LOVE rice. Love, love, love it. You can do so much with it.

So...we are having a "Spanish tapas" night at our house at the end of the month with all our friends, and I have been scrounging trying to find dishes that don't use rice. Spain is all about rice! I think I have it all down now, but the rice obstacle was a problem for awhile.

I tried a dessert or two from some Spanish recipe websites, and so far I'm not impressed. My friend Elena suggested torradas, which is basically french toast sprinkled with cinnamon. I would like to try that, but I need some way to really jazz it up and make it special. Any suggestions?

By the way, some of my paintings are back on Ebay from time to time. These are the ones that don't quite fit in with the direction I'm going, or else they are very similar to paintings I've already sold. For example, I painted three rocks of the Pacific Northwest for a specific customer who wanted that type of scene. He bought one, but I was left with the other two. One just sold; I will sell the other one that is like it a little further on down the line. And then there is this one which is one of my all time faves, but which has never sold at a gallery or a show. So I'm selling it now on ebay. Here is the link:
