Ghost In the Machine

With all the Michael Phelps 24-7, I forgot they even did track at the Olympics. I'm not kidding.

Now, 5.5 Ghost in the Machine--

Two-ish observations and one question )

Did I miss something?

They spent most of their SFX-budget in 5x01 and couldn't afford energy weapons instead of things-that-just-go-bang?

Maybe?

Actually quasar informs me that ARGs don't work on replicators anymore or something. I wish they'd spelled that out for slow fans like me.

I think ARGs wouldn't work because the Replicators learned how to get around them sometime after The Return II and the end of season 3 (maybe when the Apollo attacked their shipyards or thenabouts?). That's why Rodney had to invent Fran I and the whole replicator-black-hole thing. I found it plausible that ARGs wouldn't work against these folks, although maybe it merited a throwaway line of explanation.

And since these bodies were supposedly built with "limited" repair capability, shooting them repeatedly with bullets should have worked. Eventually. Assuming they were built to spec, which wasn't necessarily a safe assumption.

Ah, see I was sure I must've missed something somewhere. It really rated a mention for those of us who don't pay attention and/or can't remember what happened last year.

I was sad because we don't really get Fran because she's not Fran. I LOVED FRAN, but this wasn't her :(

Oh, and British friends who have seen the Sanctuary promos they keep showing on SGA-- Does Amanda Tapping's English accent sound as ridiculous to you as it does to me?

I'm Canadian, not British, but yeah her accent does sound weird. The weirdest part is Amanda Tapping is British, she was born and spent the first few years there. Maybe it's supposed to be a time period thing. Was there an "evolution" if you will of the accent in the last 200 years?

also, random though this might sound, canadian actors do tend to be pretty good at doing the english accent... i REALLY want to see that promo now!
