Okay, I'll bite. I love drabbles. I think they're spectacular exercises for writing.

Write a Nero Wolfe drabble for me. Any pairing, any rating... any style.

“Flummery.” Wolfe leaned back in the only chair into which he truly fit .

“Pure truth.”

“You fascinate that woman.”

“No longer. She’s like that book you read before lunch, ‘la belle Dame sans merci.’”

“Keats,” he muttered. “Overwrought piffle.”

“Be that as it may, Miss Rowan is definitely getting married, and not to me.” I rifled through the plant reports. After a moment, Wolfe cleared his throat politely. His expression of deepest sympathy. I looked up.

“You would not be able to change her mind?”

Since it concerned women, Wolfe would believe the lie. “No,” I said. “I wouldn’t.”

I'm completely fangirling you! I loved this! I may have to dig out some of my Wolfe books. I squee'd when I read 'Overwrought piffle.' My son wanted to know if I was ill!

Thank you, thank you!

Of course Archie could convince her otherwise... he's Archie Goodwin!

This was fun -- I started out writing Lily telling Archie -- "Escamillo, you didn't think I would wait forever," -- but quickly switched to Wolfe and Archie. That's what we read the books for. I am honored to be fangirled by you. :)

Lily/Archie could have been delightful, but I agree that you captured the entire dynamic by using Wolfe and Archie. I really loved this!
