Rec: Recs!
In honor of the new year and in tribute to SGA fandom, fiordeligi has begun a twenty-three day project of reccing SGA fics. She's reccing ten (for a rather loose definition of ten) fics in a different category each day. So far she's done Altered, Ancient Tech, AUs, Compliments of the Season, and Crossing and Fusing.
Her recs so far have been interesting and unusual, but what's really made me excited about this project is the thoughtful and insightful blurbs--complete with links--in which she discusses each recced author's work and points you to further examples. I thought I was well-read in this fandom, no I am very well-read in this fandom, but fiordeligi has linked to several (extremely interesting sounding) stories I had no idea existed. This is definitely not your ordinary rec set.
I don't think she intends to repeat authors (with one exception), so that makes ten different authors a day. I'm on day two, if you're interested, and the whole project starts with an explanation here. Do go check it out. It's really good stuff. Twenty-three days! Woo-hoo!
Also, I finally saw Revenge of the Sith last night. Yes, for the first time. Yes, I am a Star Wars fan--it's just taken me this long to face that movie. I kind of wanted to write about how Padme is completely useless, but it's not fair to pick on the female lead because pretty much everyone is useless in the prequel trilogy. It just really points out how kickass awesome Princess Leia was. *sigh*
