I’ve never known what it would be truly like to give myself completely to love of someone else. I’ve never been prepared to risk it, you see; to leave myself open to the potential for hurt and pain. But you make me want to risk myself, make me want to do things I’d never done before, all because I love you.
I’ve never been particularly selfless, everything I’ve done in my life has, by and large, been solely to protect myself. Of course, some things were less in the nature of self preservation than others, but generally, my entire existence was founded on self protection, not on self sacrifice.
You make me want to sacrifice my safety, my comfort zone. You make me want to risk everything that is safe and secure, and sometimes that terrifies me. But you’re worth it. What we have makes everything worth it. I’ll sacrifice everything for you. Because you make everything worthwhile. Thank you, Mike, for being you, for being mine. I love you.
