Ah, to relax. To achieve the true state of ease, to have no stress or tension. I do enjoy relaxing, in between the booms of life. Life is similar to one of those Muggle toys, the yo-yo. Very strange contraption. I digress.
Relaxation techniques are, to someone with my wealth and status in society, many and varied. I could, if I so wished, buy anything to assist the path to achieving a state of blissful relaxation. However, as someone wise - probably a Wizard - once said, it is the simple things in life that are the best.
I find painting to be particularly relaxing, especially if I am creating new outlets for Latin poets upon a unique canvas. It is extremely enjoyable to carefully place the words of Propertius or Horace or Catallus or Juvenal upon the blank and eager canvas, that canvas that begs to be coloured by my creativity. The preparation of the canvas is just as enjoyable as the creation of art, in my opinion.
As much as creating beauty is wonderfully relaxing, destroying it is also splendidly relaxing. There is something remarkably satisfying about the sound of explosions as metal structures collapse at my word. When one’s mood is not what one would call pleasant, the destruction of something inanimate is eminently satisfactory and extremely relaxing.
If the weather is inclement and I am not inclined to paint or to commit random acts of destruction, then I enjoy poetry. I find that being read poetry, particularly the more elegant discourses upon the state of love to be extremely relaxing. The nuances of language as read to me by my love allow for a wonderful state of calming.
And if the weather is clement, then I enjoy taking long walks in vast and empty spaces, with nothing but nature and my love. Flying is invigorating, it is freedom, and it always improves my mood.
And of course, as with most breathing creatures, sex is at the top of the list of things to do that are relaxing. Happily, as life has it, all of these things can be done in the company of my love.
