So I was flipping channels (on Monday) in order to find something to watch until I fell asleep and found Rave Master on Sci Fi. I never did seen the entirety of it, but it's nice to see it again. Well, the alcohol-now-being-soda is kinda obvious this episode (the one where both Musicas first show up), but I can ovr look that. It's a dub thing, after all.
So putting Digital Devil Saga 2 on hold in favor of Pokemon Platinum? Yeah, didn't happen.
I was terribly amused at Serph's apparent reaction when he goes to have his one-on-one "chat" with Heat just before Serph rejoins the party. I mean, I couldn't help thinking that he hadn't realized that that thing he cut his way out of? Heat. Then he sees the blood trail...and I couldn't help it. I snickered. On the other hand, during Cielo's kamikaze thing? I swear Serph's having a moment of "oh god, I've lost another one". Because it can't be easy; Argilla and Roland died when he was stuck in the EGG, Heat in front of his eyes (and right when Heat might have been about to rejoin the party too), Gale got them into the hangar by sacrificing himself (and I suspect Serph had some idea of this, given what Gale said right before heading through the door to that cutscene), and then Cielo's kamikaze thing.
I think this is the only video game I've yet played where "everybody dies" is actually part of the plot. Serph and Sera are the only ones who could have potentially not died, but given the building they were in was ON FIRE the last moment you could say for sure they were alive, that wasn't going to last long. Oh wait. FRED. Fred lives. Every other major character? Dead. Even one of the shopkeepers.
So yeah, I'm in the final dungeon now. I beat Harley (or the ghost of Harley really, but as most of my party is definitely dead anyway...) and am working on getting through the next layer, but I keep dying. But you know, it's funny. Those Lilith random encounter enemies, and the Athena ones? They like their multi-target charm spells. They like it so much they just keep using it. And who inevitably gets charmed? Heat. This should not surprise me...
In another amusing Heat moment, I'm minding my own business when I get into a fight in Berserk mode. I take out one of the three Liliths (yeah, them again), but then one of the remaining ones hits me with Maziodyne. The party dies. For dramatic emphasis on this, the game opts to give me a shot of Heat on his knees, reaching out in desperation before falling down the rest of the way. My immediate reaction: "Way to be dramatic, Heat."
