So I was poking around Wikipedia because I swore random guest character on a rerun of NCSI yesterday was Zac Efron of High School Musical fame, and I come across the fact that they're making a remake of Footloose.

My community college has opted to, just this past weekend, switch over to using Gmail to provide its e-mail account.  This means I had to reset my account forwarding for that particular e-mail (also it's a good thing I checked it, as there was an important e-mail that means I have to start doing labs for Chemistry) and that I now effectively have 2 Gmail accounts.  *sighs*  As if I didn't have enough other e-mails that I don't check.  On the other hand, this reminded me to actually check my Hollins e-mail (which I don't actively use and no longer automatically forwards things since the switch to Microsoft Exchange), at which point I found I'd failed to complete an "update your information" survey last month.  Not, mind you, that this has managed to stop Hollins from mailing me...or my parents, for that matter, as we still sometimes get multiple invites to the same events.

I'm ridiculously tired of talking about the economy in my classes (including my economics class).  I mean, I get that it's important, but I don't really need to hear the same stuff three times in the same day.  Heck, keep it to the economics class, where the current state of the economy actually relates to the material.  Particularly since it's Macroeconomics, and therefore it's all about economics on a large scale (such as, say, a national scale).

Picked up from lege_nya, who gave me the letter A.
1. Comment on this post

2. I will give you a letter

3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

Well, there's not really anything about what kind of comments this meme is looking for, so I'm just going to ramble about them for varying amounts of words and count that as my comments.  And I couldn't think of a fifth character that I actually had comments for (see note post meme), so there's only four.
  • Aaron (from The Fire Stone by Tanya Huff): The fact that he turns up first on this list is because he was literally the first fictional character to pop into my head for the letter A.  Aaron's...well, he's got issues with his own sexuality (or maybe just with the fact that he's attracted to Dar), but those largely stem from the culture he's from, I think.  Also, he seemed like he was getting over those issues by the end of the book?  I...I am totally okay with shipping him in a threesome with both Dar and Chandra, though.  In fact, this book is one of the few things where I would ship a threesome.
  • Asato (from the jmovie Kids): Oh, Asato, where do I start (other than, oh hey, he's vaguely cute)?  So, okay, not halfway through the movie, and I KNEW that what he was doing with his powers was wrong somehow.  I mean, okay, healing the kids' cuts and bruises by taking them himself I could deal with just fine, but doing the same with the scars of Takeo and Shiho?  The ones that were clearly tied in to who they were?  Yeah, that just made me uneasy.  But I was just O.O over him in the last fifteen minutes or so, but I can't really say why without going into spoilers.  I'm kinda curious as to why he keeps Takeo's scar, though, given he had a VERY CLEAR opportunity to pass it back and Takeo had been kinda ticked when he took it in the first place.  I mean, there's the whole "I don't want anyone else to hurt" thing he's got going on, but still...  Erm, I think I only have so much to say here because I just watched this so it's fresh in my mind.
  • Akira (from Akihabara@DEEP): I heart her.  I heart her so much.  Not as much as Page or Box, but Akira is her own brand of awesome.  I love that she got caught up in the cosplaying that one time (what, no, I haven't hung out at a photoshoot for something I was cosplaying for at least an hour...*sheepish look*).  I haven't watched Akihabara@DEEP in a while, though, so I'm looking back over my comments from watching it before.  Alas, though, there's not much in those that would equal more comments on Akira, so wrapping it up here.
  • Azula (from Avatar): Okay, at no point would I want to be in the same room as her.  I mean, okay, the flaming net thing that she did to get Ty Lee to join?  Just gah.  And not in a good way.  Also, I kinda want to know what her fate is, post-finale.  Other than okay, she kinda lost it there (and I'm putting it mildly, yes?).

There were a couple other fictional characters that came to mind, but I couldn't really think of anything to say about them so they got kicked off the list.  If anyone wants to throw another letter for this one at me, go ahead.

And another meme.
001. Leave me a comment saying you want to do the meme.
002. I'll respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
003. You should update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
004. You should include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
005. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

1) What food do you not like that you wish you did?
Peanut butter?  I mean, it would open up a nice new range of healthy snackage.  That, or fish.  I wish I liked fish more, but all the fish my family cooks is fish with a strong fishy taste, which I'm really not so much for.
2) If you could switch places with any living person for one day, who would it be?
I have no idea.  None.  I'm pretty content with who I am (not necessarily where I am yet in life, but that I've got time to remedy and I am sorta working on that by being in school again), and there's not really anybody that I can think of that I'd want to be more than I want to be me (and all the ups and downs that entails).
3) What superpower would you want for your own?
Flight.  Blah, I am unimaginative, but there you go.
4) What's the nicest thing someone has done for you recently?
I...shoot, this is the hardest question of the lot.  I think I'm gonna go with the student life or whatever lady making sure I knew where the place my gift certificate was for and giving me directions to it when she discovered I didn't.  Not particularly noteworthy in the long run, maybe, but it's about the only thing recently that I can think of.
5) What's your favorite way to spend your birthday?
Like any other day, really: a nice quiet evening of getting to indulge myself in my various forms of entertainment (books, music, video games, anime, etc.).  Of course, this fits around the family tradition of the birthday person getting to pick where to eat out (I am thinking I will miss this tradition if I ever move far enough away from my parents that we can't keep it going).

school, meme, random thoughts
