The Ecruteak Chapter: The City Library and What We Found There
Several times Vyse found himself stopping abruptly to beat back creatures that leaped at him and his companions from the foliage. Much to his relief, none of the creatures seemed interested in pursuit, though he could feel their eyes glaring at him the whole way.
At one point, they passed a young lad who was rummaging for something in his rucksack. When Vyse met the boy's gaze, the boy's attitude seemed to immediately brighten.
"You're not wearing any shorts!"
Vyse was taken aback by this. "Wha-?"
The boy drew a small red ball from his belt and pressed a button, causing it to expand. He tossed the ball in the air a few times then threw it forward. Impact caused an inner release mechanism to trigger and a giant caterpillar appeared.
What ensued was an argument. Vyse tried repeatedly to explain that nobody in his group was carrying a Pokemon. He was informed it was dangerous in the wilderness without a Pokemon companion and that he had made eye contact, a sign he wanted to battle. Vyse made a mental note to avoid meeting the eyes of strangers in the woods from now on.
"I like shorts," said the boy. "They're comfy and easy to wear!" He called back his creature and disappeared into the brush again.
After that the trip was uneventful. Aside from the occasional hostile fauna, Vyse found that time passed quietly and soon the trees thinned out and they emerged into a small city. The streets were narrow here, the buildings made of stone and obviously very old. A mist hung around the city, ebbing and flowing like a tide, and a light rain sprinkled over everything, giving the place a crystalline shine.
Vyse tipped his head towards the water, and caught some in the palm of an open hand. Civilians walked by him, carrying umbrellas, their eyes downcast. The city had an aura of sorrow about it, as if some tragedy had happened there and it was forever lying under its shadow.
Vyse lowered his hands and turned to his companions.
VYSE I guess this must be that city Demyx mentioned. Uhm...Does anybody see anything that might be a library? I'm a bit lost.

Maraich kept quiet most the walk, thinking. Little things like pokemon popping out didn't distract him; he was quite used to things jumping out at any time.
"Libraries are usually larger than a lot of other buildings, but you never know on another world." He glanced either way. The town was depressing. A bit too depressing... He wasn't sure if some of his usual approaches would work here. Not to mention their group probably wasn't blending in very well.
"But... It's always possible to try asking. One second," he wandered away from the group a bit to approach some other people; men, of course, and instantly changed his disposition to something comparable to a lost schoolgirl, "Excuse me~, would you gentleman be able to help me find a library..?"

"H-hey! Maraich!" An accented voice called after them-- Valentine had, at last, made his way to meet the rest of them, and was now running to catch up with them. "HEY!"

Vincent followed behind Valentine at a steady pace, his eyes alight with curiosity and bemusement over his surroundings. Clearly, world-hopping was an entirely new concept to him.

Jordan had arrived finally, as this was his first time traveling to another world outside his galaxy. Jordan looked around frantically, searching for his partner, Eva. Spotting her with a group of strangers, he hurried toward them.
((BTW, Eva, Jordan is dressed in his Avatar robes and his eyes are golden now.))

Shadow was, more or less, trying to stay in the middle of the group. What with being the only non-human in the group, and very, very, confused by everything.

*Vyse furrows his brow at Shadow*
Did Maraich ask something?
Vyse walked towards Maraich, where the group of men was looking the effeminate lad over with obvious confusion. It was clear from their expressions that that there was no library in Ecruteak.
A voice called out and Vyse reached instinctively for his blades. He relaxed when he saw they were not about to be attacked.
MORTY Ho, travelers. Not from the area, are you?
VYSE No....Is there a library here?
MORTY No, there is not. There used to be but it burned down around the same time the Tin Tower did. If you want to investigate the old ruins, be my guest. I'm the Gym Leader. Morty. Perhaps I may be of help to you?

Soma had been following along quietly, observing the unfamiliar animals. The ball thing that shorts kid had had with him was interesting- despite appearances, this place seemed to be even further ahead technologically than his own Earth. They were doing things that should have been physically impossible. Neat.

Asking the people in town didn't turn up anything other than they had no clue what he was talking about... And with a short, "Thanks anyway," Maraich quickly moves back to the group.
He turns around at all the new people showing up. No doubt it's going to be a little strange for all these people to just appear in town. But there wasn't anything they could do about that now. He turns to greet the new arrivals, "Hi there. Try not to stick out so much, all right?"
Luckily, it seemed someone from the town had taken the initiative to come over to them. "Gym leader? Well, if you can help us, that'd be great. We need to find information fast," he answered, but didn't give away everything. He wanted to get a sense of what this new person was like, first.

MORTY Yes, the Gym Leader. I specialize in Ghost-types and I'm a skilled mediator. Surely you've at least heard of me? I know this area better than anyone, now how can I help you miss...

Maraich immediately puts a hand on Vyse's shoulder and points at the him, "Yes, he's definitely a boy."
He whispers quickly to Vyse, "What are you doing? Guys help pretty girls a lot more than they help strange men."
He hopes that he was able to interrupt quickly enough, but he continues talking to Morty regardless, "You can call me Maraich. Anyway, you must be the man to ask, then. Would you happen to know anything about Darkrai?"
[Sorry about the tag. Realized I forgot to answer the question ^o^]

Morty blinked a few times and shot Vyse a look. The young pirate fidgeted and answered the unasked question
VYSE I uh...thought you were talking to him...*points towards Valentine* He's a very important man, you know.
MORTY I ...see. Did you say "Darkrai"? Darkrai is a demigod, of sorts. They say on nights such as this it feeds on human misery by lulling victims to sleep and giving them nightmares. Then it devours the nightmares and the victim falls into a coma. But...Darkrai doesn't usually attack anyone this far north...

He waves of Valentine quickly, "You were being slow. Keep up with the group, Mr Important!"
He listens to Morty and thinks about it for a second. "So, how would you cure someone who has been attacked, Sir Morty?" He, of course, elevates Morty's status to flatter him.
