A follow up to this little tale...
He called. Well, e-mailed me at 12:15 AM and then called at 12:20 AM or so. E-mail's content was defensive, but his phone call was friendly and wanting to talk more when I had to go. E-mail said he has a girlfriend at present that he has to "ask for permission" to make sure it's okay if he meets with me to talk, but she knows "the history" and he doesn't foresee any problems. The whole thing screams Springer. I don't know what I'll end up doing...
